I stood in the doorway of the Parrish Estate’s once-grand living room. The metallic ozone of my scent soured with profound, suffocating self-loathing. My Inner Wolf was howling—not with pride, but with the agonizing realization of my own catastrophic stupidity.

Kira froze, all the color draining from her face as the finality of my words struck her.
I turned on my heel and walked out the front door. Behind me, Kira let out a hysterical, blood-curdling scream. Her frantic footsteps pounded against the hardwood as she chased me out into the cold driveway, desperately trying to claw her way into my McLaren before I could leave her in the ruins she had created.

The heavy thud of the McLaren’s passenger door closing sealed my fate. Kira had clawed her way inside before I could lock it, her cloying jasmine scent now a rotting, sour stench of absolute failure that suffocated the small cabin.
I didn’t look at her. I just slammed my foot on the gas, tearing out of the Parrish estate’s driveway.
