The torrential rain battered the tinted windows of the Rolls Royce Phantom. Inside, the cabin was a silent sanctuary, thick with the grounding scent of Kain’s ancient cedar and raw power. It was the exact armor I needed. I took a deep breath, stepped out into the storm, and walked toward the heavy oak doors of Wolfe Manor.
I pushed the doors open. The grand foyer smelled of damp wood, but it was entirely suffocated by the sour, panicked stench of Bryan and Carolyn Parrish.
