The elevator ride down to the Sub-Level Garage at Blackstone Tower was a blur. My heart was still hammering against my ribs from the suffocating, dominant heat Kain had ignited on the terrace. I just needed to get to The Wolfe Hotel, bury myself in work, and escape the terrifying reality that my psychological walls were already crumbling.
