I turned my back on him and stepped into the private elevator, swiping my keycard for the top floor.
As the metal doors began to slide shut, Jase lunged forward, catching them with both hands. His eyes were wild, burning with a toxic mix of jealousy and spite.

I forced myself to take a deep breath, letting the smooth, rapid ascent calm my racing heart. I wouldn’t let Jase’s pathetic attempts at manipulation poison my mind.
The doors chimed open, revealing the Alpha’s private lounge at the top of The Wolfe Hotel Group HQ. The sprawling space was bathed in the golden light of the Manhattan skyline, the air rich with the scent of fresh lilies and the dark, roasted aroma of the high-end espresso machine at the bar. I walked straight toward it, letting my own wild rose scent bloom to reclaim my territory.
Before I could even press a button on the machine, the heavy oak door leading to the emergency stairwell banged open.
