A giant, pulsing pink heart framed by a Cupid’s arrow filled the fifty-foot screen. For a split second, the entire arena went dead silent. Then hundreds of Rogues and fallen Warriors erupted into deafening, mocking howls.
“Claim him! Claim your Beta!” they chanted, pounding their fists against the concrete barriers.

Fletcher’s face drained of all color, his citrus scent souring with absolute, paralyzing terror as the full weight of his Luna’s catastrophic mistake became clear.
My pride was being publicly executed. The iron armrests of my throne groaned and warped under my crushing grip as my Lycan power violently bled into the air. I stood. The sheer, lethal force of my aura slammed into the nearest section of the crowd, choking the laughter from the spectators closest to me.
I didn’t look at Fletcher. I turned and stormed out.
I tore through the cool concrete hallway, shoving past security stands and cheap beer vendors, and burst through the heavy metal doors onto 7th Avenue.
A freezing, torrential New York downpour soaked through my suit instantly, but it did absolutely nothing to extinguish the hellfire raging in my veins. I ignored my driver’s frantic calls from the curb. I walked three blocks through the icy deluge, letting the freezing rain batter my skin just to keep my beast from turning around and leveling the entire city block.
By the time I reached the black Rolls-Royce Phantom, the blinding, chaotic rage had crystallized into something far more dangerous — cold, hard, absolute resolve.
Adelina thought I was a joke. She didn’t want the gentle, patient husband who bought her flowers and diamonds. She wanted to play games with my nature.
I slid into the luxurious leather seat, rain dripping from my jaw and soaking into my collar. I stared out at the blurred city lights, my storm-gray eyes bleeding into a terrifying, molten gold. I was going back to the penthouse, and I was going to show my little wolf exactly what kind of predator she had bound herself to.

The private elevator chimed, shattering the quiet anticipation in the penthouse den. I sat up on the velvet sofa, smoothing the fabric of my skirt, expecting Kain to walk in with a relaxed, perhaps even grateful, smile after his surprise evening.
Instead, the heavy metal doors slid open to reveal a nightmare.
Kain stepped onto the marble floor looking like a storm that had taken human form. He was completely soaked. Freezing rain dripped from his dark hair and had ruined his expensive suit jacket, leaving a dark puddle spreading at his feet. But it was his scent that made my breath catch in my throat. The usually intoxicating aroma of ancient cedar was suffocatingly thick, laced with the bitter chill of rain and the sharp, violent ozone of pure, unadulterated rage.
