The agent wanted to find a chance to comfort Margo during the drive, but Margo’s solemn expression kept her from saying anything.
Then the alarm on the agent’s phone rang. A few days earlier, while they were still on set, Margo had been working night shoots, and the agent had set an alarm for 8:30 to wake her. Now that filming had ended, she still hadn’t turned it off.

“Did you get hurt?” she asked, glancing at Dunn and Margo in the backseat, her voice tight with worry.
“We’re okay,” Dunn reassured her, reaching out to gently stroke Margo’s hair.
Margo stayed silent, clinging to his waist, her thoughts a distant storm.
Eventually, the agent dropped Margo and Dunn off at their residence. Even after they got home, Margo kept hold of Dunn’s hand, like a child clinging to something safe.
Dunn led her to the sofa. The exhaustion on his face was unmistakable—three consecutive surgeries that afternoon had drained him. He had learned about Margo’s ordeal the moment he stepped out of the operating room.
