The Farrell and Hammond families announced their engagement, with the engagement party set for ten days later.
The news sent shockwaves through the social circle.
No one had expected Victor to get engaged to Nicole.
The Farrell family’s marriage alliance with the Hammonds became the butt of jokes in their social circle.
People were seriously wondering if Adam and Victor had lost their minds.
Everyone knew what Nicole had done to Nicolas, and she even made a big deal about having a crush on him on X.
Plenty of folks also heard about her trying to marry into another powerful family.
But she backed out just because that family was way too stingy with the money they gave their youngest son.
She was just a woman chasing after a rich family, but her reputation was already in the gutter. Who’d actually want to bring her home?

She asked, “Did that miracle doctor do something? Is that what made the Farrells agree to the engagement so quickly?”
Otherwise, with Nicole’s reputation in the gutter and the Farrells always putting profit first, even if they wanted to use her, they wouldn’t have agreed so quickly.
Jason was in a great mood. “You’re sharp, Alicia. Nailed it again.
“Victor’s got a major problem with his body. If he doesn’t get treated, it’s actually worse than what Nicolas went through.

“He won’t just lose the chance to have kids-he’ll basically be a eunuch for the rest of his life.
“So the miracle doctor made a deal: Victor marries Nicole, and he’ll cure him.
“Victor’s nowhere near as gutsy as Nicolas. He barely hesitated-three days and he agreed.”
Alicia chuckled. “Did he bring this on himself, or did the miracle doctor set him up?”
Jason replied, “He already had problems, but the miracle doctor probably gave him a little push.
“Don’t let Victor’s straight-laced act fool you. Behind closed doors, he’s a total player.
“One of his side chicks went out and caught something, and he ended up getting it too.
“His original fiancée’s family found out about all his little affairs and called off the engagement.”
Of course, Jason had a hand in making sure they found out.
That family really cared about their daughter, so once they saw Victor’s true colors as a womanizer, they dropped the engagement with the Farrells.
Jason also had people drop a few hints in Nicole’s ear about how Victor was handsome and successful.
He was already the CEO of Farrell Group at such a young age, and Adam had given him a lot of power.
Right now, Victor was the most successful guy among the younger generation—a real diamond bachelor.
They kept dropping hints about all the perks of marrying Victor.
And to top it off, Victor also happened to be Nicolas’s cousin.
If she couldn’t be Nicolas’s wife, then being his cousin’s wife and having the upper hand over him-just imagine the satisfaction of rubbing it in his face.
Marrying into a wealthy family was Nicole’s obsession, especially since she cared so much about status and how others saw her.
She was determined to prove to everyone that even if she couldn’t marry Nicolas, she could still snag an heir to a powerful family who was every bit as impressive as him.
Marrying Nicolas’s cousin meant Nicole could finally hold her head high in front of him- she’d have the upper hand now, and that thought made her feel pretty damn good.

She wasted no time and started getting close to Victor herself.
The miracle doctor, knowing all about Nicole’s obsession with marrying into money, gave her a little push from the shadows.
Alicia sighed, “Victor’s a total snake. That family made the right call breaking off the engagement.”
She asked curiously, “Does Nicole know about this?”
Given how that miracle doctor loves working in the shadows, chances are Nicole has no clue what he’s been up to.
Sure enough, Jason replied, “Nope, she’s convinced it’s all her own charm at work. She thinks Victor got hooked after a couple of encounters.
“She thinks Victor pursued her, and it was the Farrells who approached the Hammonds about the engagement.”
Alicia frowned, confused. “If the miracle doctor knows what Victor’s really like, why would he still let Nicole marry him?”
Victor was such a womanizer, and now he had that kind of trouble. Even if he got cured, it still felt kind of… off.
Jason had thought about that too. “He probably just wants to indulge Nicole’s obsession.
“His feelings for Nicole are pretty complicated.
“He’ll protect her, but he can’t be bothered to get involved in anything else.”
Alicia thought for a moment. “Yeah, that makes sense.
“He probably only realized Nicole was his daughter after she moved in with the Hammond family.”
