Nicolas woke up.
Caleb walked over, his face full of guilt.
“Man, I can’t believe Nicole actually did this to you. I’m so sorry,” Caleb said.
He and Nicolas had been best friends since childhood.
Nicole’s scheme might have left Nicolas unable to have children. Caleb was worried sick about his buddy’s health, torn between heartbreak and anger.
Nicolas didn’t take it out on Caleb. “You didn’t know what she was up to. I’m not mad at you.
“But from now on, Nicole and I are done. You’ve got to pick a side.
“Is it going to be your childhood brother, or your stepsister Nicole? It’s your call.”
He just couldn’t accept Caleb still sticking up for Nicole after what she’d done to him.
He wasn’t blaming Caleb, but he had to make him choose.
If Caleb decided to side with Nicole, then Nicolas would rather end their friendship for good.
Caleb could hear just how serious Nicolas was.
He said, “Of course I’m with you, man.
“Nicole screwed up, and she’s gotta deal with the fallout. I’m not going to bail her out.”
Because of Nicole, he’d already lost the sister who meant the world to him.
This time, he wasn’t about to lose his best friend because of Nicole.
On this, he wasn’t going to have Nicole’s back.
Nicolas finally nodded. “Good.”
He looked exhausted. “I’m beat. You guys go on ahead.
“Oh, and let Marley know I’m dropping out of the next live stream recording. It’s for health
reasons.”
He just didn’t have the energy or the mood to keep going.
He’d made up his mind to leave the entertainment industry for good.
Caleb said, “Don’t worry about a thing. Just focus on getting better. I’ll handle everything

He honestly didn’t feel like filming anymore either, but as long as Nicole was still in the recording, he’d tough it out for her.
Then the three Hammond brothers left.
Nicolas’s father turned to his wife and asked, “Did you find out who mixed the drug?”
He’d already guessed what his wife was really after when she hurried off with her crew to confront Mavis.
Nicolas’s mother replied, “Mavis said she doesn’t know who mixed the drug, but she said Jett was the one who gave Nicole the drug.”
She was convinced Mavis knew all about Nicole drugging Nicolas, and even suspected Mavis might’ve been the one who gave Nicole the drug herself.
That’s why she’d rushed over with her crew-to grill Mavis, and to vent her anger a bit.
Nicolas’s father was taken aback. “Jett? How did the Kingsley family get dragged into this?
“If he really gave her the drug, then why would he do something like that?”
The Moore family and the Kingsley family had never had any bad blood. He couldn’t figure out why Jett would want to hurt his son.
Nicolas’s mother frowned. “I don’t know either, so I’m heading to Greenpeak Village first thing tomorrow to get the truth from Nicole and Jett.
“No matter what, we have to find out who mixed that drug.
“I’m not buying Mavis’s story either. I’ve got my best bodyguards tailing her, just in case.”
Whoever mixed that drug was the only chance their son had left to ever have kids.
If that last hope was gone, the couple had no idea what they’d do next.
Nicolas’s father nodded. “That’s all we can do. Tomorrow, I’ll keep the heat on the Hammond family and make sure they’re helping us track that person down.”
Nicolas felt a wave of guilt and sadness seeing his parents so worried about him.
He really regretted it now. He never should’ve let his guard down and treated Nicole like a
sister.
If he’d just kept his distance and acted colder toward her, she probably never would’ve even thought of pulling something like this.

Alicia was right-they’d been totally blind and clueless.
But it was too late to regret it now.
Meanwhile, at the hospital.
The Hammond patriarch was so furious after his son talked back and hung up on him, he nearly passed out.
Back in the day, only Alicia ever dared to argue with him when she was upset. The boys were always too intimidated to say a word.
But now, even Kevin-the most obedient and careful of his sons-was standing up to him. It felt like the whole world had flipped upside down.
But this whole mess with the Moore family was turning into a total nightmare.
All he could do now was work with the Moore family and do everything to track down whoever mixed that drug. Otherwise, he was worried the two families might end up turning against each other over this mess.
He rubbed his throbbing head. Nicole always seemed so sweet and never made waves.
But when she did screw up, it was always a disaster.
Honestly, he’d rather deal with his own daughter’s occasional little mishaps-at least those he could handle himself, and she never brought trouble down on the whole family.
Marley got word that Nicolas was dropping out of the filming.
