The only place that ever brought him any peace was just snatched away. ‘Is she trying to drive me crazy on purpose?’ he thought bitterly.
Right now, all three Hammond brothers were in the hospital room.
None of them wanted to go along with him anymore.
Caleb shot back, not holding back his sarcasm. “You brought this on yourself.”
He added with a grumble, “If you hadn’t married that homewrecker, things between us and Ally would never have gotten this bad.”
Austin chimed in, “Exactly.”
All three of them felt the same way.
Leo was so furious he nearly fell back in his bed. “You rebellious sons!”
‘If I’d known she was a homewrecker, would I have ever married her?
‘Can’t they see how much worse things have gotten for me?’ he thought bitterly.
But these rebellious sons didn’t even care about their old man-all they did was blame him for everything.
The three brothers just stayed silent.
Leo paused, then turned to Kevin and asked, “Did your mom leave me anything?”
Kevin shook his head. “No, Mom didn’t leave you anything.”
Most of her assets went to Alicia as her wedding gift, and the rest was split evenly between the three brothers.
As for their dad, he really got nothing.
Leo suddenly seemed to age several years, his whole face etched with heartbreak. “She really was ruthless. She didn’t leave me a single thing to remember her by.”
He waved his sons off. “You guys go ahead. I just want to be alone.”
He didn’t ask his sons to take him to the estate again.
He knew that once Alicia made up her mind, she truly wouldn’t let him set foot there ever again.
The pain was overwhelming.
He just wanted a happy family, but in the end, he was left with no one by his side.
He couldn’t help but feel regret.
He wished he’d never let that homewrecker into his life-now his golden years were anything but peaceful.
He wished he’d listened to his daughter instead of pushing her away.
But regret didn’t change a thing now.
The three brothers couldn’t stand to see their father’s face anymore, so they just left.
A few days later, Leo was suffering through the hell of withdrawal, only able to sleep with the help of sedative shots.
But after pushing through the pain, he was finally starting to see some results-even if the whole process was pure agony.
He was so weak, he didn’t have the energy to run the company anymore.
And after a few days, he finally saw things for what they were.
So he called in the lawyer and his three sons.
He kept the deed to the old family house and a bit of cash for himself, but nearly everything else-the shares and assets- he split up just like he and his wife had agreed.
The last ten percent, he gave straight to Alicia.

They had no problem with giving those extra assets to their sister as compensation
Kevin’s father was genuinely relieved to see his children weren’t at each other’s throats over the inheritance
He turned to Kevin and instructed, “I know she doesn’t want to see me. Let her know about this for me
He did want to see his daughter, but he was worried she’d think he was just using the inheritance as leverage against her
If that happened, she probably wouldn’t accept the assets at all-and she’d only end up resenting him even more
Kevin nodded. “Alright.”
After that, Kevin went to see Alicia and handed her the property transfer contract.
But Alicia didn’t claim that ten percent for herself. Of course, she didn’t give it back either.
Instead, she donated it in her mother’s name to a medical charity foundation.
The foundation was set up by her university, and its main mission was to provide medical aid to seriously ill or special patients who couldn’t afford treatment.
She’d already donated a lot in her mom’s honor, hoping to earn good karma for her mom so she’d be blessed in her next life.
After living a second life herself, Alicia really believed in this kind of thing.
With this big donation, a lot of lives could be saved. She was sure her mom would’ve wanted that.
Kevin hadn’t expected his sister to do something like that.
He respected her decision and decided he’d donate in their mom’s name every year too.
