Hearing Phillip’s so-called advice, Rosalie slightly narrowed her eyes, and a smirk played on her lips. She said nothing, but her expression made it clear she wasn’t taking Phillip seriously.
Under different circumstances, Phillip might have been infuriated by her dismissive response. However, Rosalie’s stunning beauty tempered his reaction. Even her mocking look seemed to captivate him, pushing anger aside and sending his heart racing instead. Phillip found himself unable to maintain eye contact with her. He kept awkwardly glancing around while stealing fleeting looks at her.
Meanwhile, Emalee observed Phillip’s obvious infatuation with the woman Ashton had brought here. Her frustration mounted as it became apparent that Ashton had brought this woman specifically to stir tension between her and Phillip. The realization twisted Emalee’s features into a scowl.
After pinching Phillip a few times to snap him out of his daze, Emalee turned her attention to Ashton and pointed an accusatory finger at him.
“Enough, Ashton! You’re just upset and trying to mess with us by bringing in an actress to show off. I’ve told you, there’s nothing between us anymore. I never cared about you, so why are you doing this p>
Jolted by Emalee’s pinches, Phillip snapped out of the daze and noticed her annoyed expression, a wave of unease washing over him.
As an elite lawyer from a prominent family in Inewood, he understood the importance of staying in Emalee’s favor and gaining support from the James family to secure his future ambitions.
If he achieved his ambitions, winning someone as captivating as Rosalie would be easy. Therefore, he could not afford to tarnish Emalee’s view of him for now. With a quick, apologetic smile, he tried to appease Emalee and then disdainfully addressed Ashton.
“Emalee’s right. Did you really think that hiring someone to act could destroy our relationship? Give it up. Even without me, Emalee would never be interested in you p>

Ashton realized arguing with these two was pointless. The more he engaged with them, the more unreasonable they got. He shook his head, let out a weary sigh, and declared, “Stop flattering yourselves. Move aside. I’m going to have dinner p>
Ashton had only taken two steps when Phillip blocked his path again.
“Still pretending?” Phillip scoffed. “Fine! Since you’re bragging about having dinner here, tell me, which table did you reserve? I bet you don’t even know this restaurant is members-only. Without a membership card, you can’t even get in! And securing a card here? You need at least a million in the bank. Besides, to dine here, a reservation made in advance is needed p>
Ashton turned to Rosalie.
Rosalie blinked her beautiful eyes and said, “We only decided to have dinner here yesterday, so I didn’t make a reservation in advance p>
Before she could finish her words, Phillip’s laughter cut through the air.
“Caught you in a lie, didn’t I? You should’ve known that the Modern Restaurant is always fully booked! Making plans just yesterday and showing up today? Who do you think you are, the owner of the restaurant p>
With a self-satisfied air, Phillip flashed his membership card and handed it to a security guard at the entrance.
“Guards, these two are pretending to be customers and disrupting the dining experience of your members. Shouldn’t you do something about it?” Phillip sneered.
Upon seeing Phillip’s membership card, the security guards did not hesitate. They eyed Ashton with suspicion, ready to act if necessary.
Seeing the guards take him seriously boosted Phillip’s confidence. But to him, just kicking them out felt too boring.
With this thought in mind, he decided to use this chance to impress Rosalie. He wanted to show her that he was better than Ashton and offer her a glimpse into the affluent lifestyle.
This way, once he became successful, he could quietly revel in Rosalie’s beauty, unbeknownst to Emalee.
With feigned magnanimity, Phillip declared, “You know, I just realized how truly pitiful you are, you poor country bumpkin. You’ve never experienced the finer things in life and can’t even make up a believable lie. Here’s what I’ll do: If you two leave quietly, I’ll forget this happened and let you off p>
Phillip expected Rosalie to appreciate his generosity. To his surprise, she frowned and retorted sharply, “You’re just a member here. And you’re talking about letting us off the hook? To anyone listening, it might sound like you own the place p>
The onlookers burst into laughter, making Phillip feel both humiliated and angry.
Enraged, he shouted at the guards, “What are you waiting for? Get these two out of here now p>
Ashton’s eyes flashed with anger, and he snapped back, “We’re just here to eat, Phillip! I advise you not to go too far p>
Phillip raised his eyebrows and smirked. “So what if I do? I’m about to show you that in this world, money is everything p>
