With Phillip and Miriam swiftly departing in a flurry of embarrassment, the situation was effectively resolved. Aaron, reassured that order had been restored, leisurely finished his coffee and warmly bade goodbye to Ashton and Rosalie before making his exit.
Once Aaron was out of sight, Ashton turned toward Rosalie, his expression filled with sincere gratitude. “Thanks, Rosalie. Despite your busy schedule, you made time to help me out. Phillip might have persisted if you hadn’t been here,” Ashton acknowledged warmly.
Rosalie responded with a dismissive gesture and a playful tone. “There’s no need for thanks. I just brought you and Aaron coffee. Plus, I was on my way to a meeting, not here solely for you,” she said, attempting to appear nonchalant even as a smile tugged at her lips.
Ashton simply smiled back, his eyes twinkling with understanding of her thoughts. Rosalie’s heart skipped a beat at his knowing look, and she quickly steered the conversation elsewhere. “Now that we’ve settled everything, you should head back. Where to? I can drop you off p>
It was difficult to decline such an offer from Rosalie, who was not only helpful but also captivating. Ashton accepted her offer without hesitation. However, he was conscious of the fact that he shouldn’t impose on her generosity too often, especially considering the distance between his current home and the school.
With enough money in his pocket, Ashton decided it was the right time to invest in a car of his own. The next morning, he made his way to a car dealership. As he entered the showroom, Ashton was surprised to find Phillip and Emalee there, also checking out the cars. Phillip noticed Ashton, and his face fell, his mood darkening.
The humiliation of their last encounter was still fresh in his mind, a detail he had kept from Emalee. Seeing Ashton now only exacerbated Phillip’s discomfort.
