Ashton harbored no fear toward Phillip, the so-called elite lawyer who had recently returned. His decision to step back stemmed from his gratitude for Emalee’s past action of saving his life, a debt he intended to repay before parting ways peacefully. However, Phillip took Ashton’s concessions as an opportunity to challenge him repeatedly.
Despite Ashton’s usually calm demeanor, everyone has their breaking point. So, despite not exerting his full strength, Ashton still managed to leave Phillip writhing in pain. Eventually, Phillip and Miriam were left with no option but to plead for mercy.
“Ashton… Ashton! Please stop. We admit our mistake. It won’t happen again!” Phillip cried out.

Having suffered a beating, Miriam was somewhat frightened. She questioned again, “Phillip, are you certain your plan will succeed? What if it backfires and he comes after us p>
Phillip responded with a confident smile, “Remember, I’m a professional lawyer. In my line of work, nobody can shield him. I’m utterly confident that since he’s attacked us, I can easily have him behind bars!” Phillip’s smile then took on a sinister edge.
Despite his own injuries, Ashton felt they paled in comparison to the repercussions he would soon face.
Unaware of Phillip’s schemes, Ashton wished to sever ties with the James family. After exiting the neighborhood, he found himself without a place to go. He decided to spend the night at a hotel and then search for a more stable living situation. But not long after he left the neighborhood, a familiar figure approached him.
It was Rosalie, whom he had just left a few hours ago. “Rosalie? What are the odds of meeting you here!” Ashton exclaimed.
At the sound of his voice, Rosalie’s face brightened, and she hurried toward him. As she drew nearer, Ashton saw concern etched on her features. It was clear she wasn’t merely passing by; she had sought him out deliberately.
Panting slightly, Rosalie inquired, “Are you alright, Ashton? I found out about your connection to the James family and that Phillip had sent thugs to your home. I rushed over as soon as I heard p>
A sense of warmth filled Ashton’s heart, and he couldn’t help but smile back. “You knew about those thugs and you weren’t scared of getting tangled up in their mess p>
Noticing Rosalie’s worry, Ashton promptly put her at ease. “You don’t have to worry about that. Those thugs were no match for me. As you can see, I’m perfectly fine.” He briefly shared the details of the encounter.
Rosalie’s expression softened slightly when she saw that he was indeed unharmed, yet her brows furrowed with irritation. “That Phillip is despicable, going after your pre-marital property. Why did you let him get away with it? It’s your property, after all. I can’t just stand by; I’m going to help you fight this. Do you know Aaron Gray? He’s one of the top lawyers in Inewood. I’ll contact him tomorrow to take on your case p>
Ashton started to talk, but Rosalie quickly interrupted him. “Also, you don’t have a place to stay now, right? Why not stay at my place tonight? No arguing—it’s decided!” Rosalie declared firmly.
As Ashton watched Rosalie take charge, he couldn’t help but feel both amused and moved by her actions. After enduring two years of mistreatment from the James family, such kindness was a balm to his weary spirit.
