Before, Phillip would have scoffed at the idea of taking Ashton’s word for anything. However, Ashton’s confidence now made Phillip waver. The Longevity Pill he held looked exactly like the one Ashton had handed Bobby. Could it have come from Ashton?
Phillip hesitated, his skepticism creeping back. He couldn’t accept it. Linking the Longevity Pill to Ashton would imply Ashton’s association with the powerful Skyline Group. It was impossible.
“Stop the act,” Phillip taunted. “If those pills really belonged to you, why didn’t you have the credentials to even step into the auction venue? You must have made a counterfeit to dupe Bobby, but you won’t fool me. Just so you know, these Longevity Pills came straight from Skyline Group! Who the hell do you think you are to claim any connection with them p>
Although Emalee thought Phillip’s skepticism was justified, she couldn’t shake the feeling that something didn’t quite add up. She nudged Phillip and whispered, “Didn’t he visit Skyline Group this morning? Maybe he was there to deliver the Longevity Pills p>
Emalee’s intention was to jog Phillip’s memory. However, it only fueled his anger and led him to believe she was siding with Ashton.
“If that’s true, you must have made quite a fortune from Skyline Group. I suppose you’re also eyeing a stake at the upcoming bidding conference hosted by Skyline Group and the Campbell family, aren’t you?” Phillip retorted mockingly.
Ashton smiled faintly. “I’m just planning to watch the excitement p>
Phillip’s annoyance intensified, and he snapped back, “I can’t wait to see you at the bidding conference. You’ll finally understand the enormous gap between you and us.” With a scornful laugh, he took Emalee’s arm and steered her away.
Ashton merely smiled and said nothing. He waited until Phillip and Emalee were well out of sight before casually making his way to the roadside.

As he approached the curb, a sleek black Maybach glided to a stop beside him. Ashton slid into the passenger seat and glanced at Sheila in the driver’s seat.
Sheila did not hear the conversation between Ashton and her brother, but she had observed enough from a distance to glean the tension from their expressions alone.
Upon seeing Ashton’s expression, a wave of unease washed over her.
Noticing her anxious demeanor, Ashton recounted Phillip’s antics without sparing any details. Then, with a pointed remark, he concluded, “Your brother seems pretty confident about the upcoming bid, huh? It’s almost as if he thinks Skyline Group is part of the Watson family business p>
Sheila’s anxiety deepened at Ashton’s words, which, though delivered with a chuckle, carried an unmistakable warning.
She quickly put on a flattering smile and responded, “You’re quite the joker, Mr. Baldwin. I am well aware of my role and have never presumed to leverage it for personal advantage. Phillip is young and still learning. Please accept my apologies for any disrespect he may have shown p>
As she apologized, Sheila gave a polite bow to Ashton. Dressed in a low-cut outfit, her movement briefly exposed a generous amount of her cleavage, while her long legs subtly grazed Ashton in what could be interpreted as a suggestive manner.
Ashton, however, remained stoic and gently but firmly distanced himself.
“There’s no need to test me. Just remember what I’ve said before and follow my instructions closely. You won’t face any trouble from me,” he stated coolly.
Relief washed over Sheila, but at the same time, she felt frustrated. She had already taken a risk by discreetly warning her brother, but it seemed her efforts had been in vain.
Why on earth couldn’t Phillip get the message?
