Phillip stood aside while his hired thugs encircled Ashton. His eyes sparkled with unmistakable pride and satisfaction. He had this entire situation under his control. Furthermore, he already pictured Ashton, powerless and trembling before him.
Phillip taunted him loudly, “Look at this, Ashton! Crushing you is as simple as stepping on an ant. Kneel and beg before me, and maybe I’ll spare you. But if you resist, know that I’ll have these people tear you limb from limb p>
Phillip’s voice was full of provocation and mockery. He reveled in the fantasy of Ashton groveling at his feet, which made him laugh out loud. Even if Ashton begged, Phillip had no intention of sparing him. His visit was not just to take Ashton’s house. He wanted to witness Ashton beg for mercy. He wanted to break Ashton, ensuring he had no way to thrive or even survive in the city, pushing him toward a destitute life.
However, Phillip’s assurance faltered when he saw Ashton’s unshaken demeanor. The latter appeared completely unfazed by the threats, maintaining his composure throughout. With a slight smile, Ashton spoke in a relaxed tone. “If you think these men are enough to challenge me, then by all means, proceed p>
This casual defiance only fueled Phillip’s rage further. The thugs surrounding Ashton were known for their ruthlessness, but his calmness only seemed to provoke Phillip more. Phillip shouted, “You really think you can take me on? You’re making a huge mistake! Since you won’t accept a peaceful solution, don’t blame me for what happens next!” He stepped back and commanded, “Take him down! Just make sure he’s still breathing. I don’t want a murder charge on my hands p>
Phillip thought Ashton would be on the floor, begging for mercy in seconds. Instead, cries of pain echoed around the room. But they weren’t from Ashton; they came from the thugs he hired. The scene that unfolded was beyond Phillip’s expectations.
Despite being outnumbered and unarmed, Ashton moved like a force of nature, and the thugs were unable to lay a hand on him. He navigated through his adversaries with ease, avoiding every blow. Despite being armed, the thugs stood no chance against an unarmed Ashton. They couldn’t even put up a fight. One hit from Ashton and he sent one of them reeling to the floor. In just a few minutes, the entire group lay on the floor, crying out in pain. The only ones still standing were Ashton, Phillip, and Miriam.

Phillip’s eyes grew wide with shock. This seemingly delicate man had single-handedly taken down all the thugs without getting hurt. Was Ashton even human? Phillip and Miriam stepped back, their faces pale, eyes filled with fear as they stared at Ashton.
“Don’t you dare come any closer! Assaulting people is a crime!” Phillip warned. His previously arrogant voice had now been replaced by fear and cowardice. Ashton smirked and advanced toward him.
“You didn’t care about the law when you sent them to attack me. Now you suddenly care about legality? That’s funny.” Phillip was speechless, realizing he was outmatched. His hired thugs had let him down, and now even escaping seemed impossible.
Reluctantly, Phillip faced Ashton, trying to steady himself. He took a deep breath, attempting to regain his composure.
“I’m a lawyer, you know. I can bend the law to my will…” Phillip began, and then quickly changed his statement, realizing his mistake. “I mean, I can use the law to fight back. If you lay a hand on me, you’ll end up behind bars!” He hoped to scare Ashton with his legal threats. It was his last-ditch effort to turn the situation around.
Ashton paused, seemingly considering Phillip’s threat. Phillip and Miriam thought they had succeeded in intimidating Ashton. They began to smile smugly and feel at ease.
But before they could fully enjoy their confidence, Ashton’s hand landed on their faces.
