Miriam was baffled by the sudden turn of events and found herself being pulled away by Phillip. She had no clue about Aaron’s identity and had not previously encountered Rosalie.

Phillip turned pale with fear when he heard his future mother-in-law brazenly insult Rosalie. He silently lamented that if Miriam was eager to dig her own grave, that was her choice, but she should not drag him into it. Despite his apprehensions, Phillip felt obligated to remain since Miriam was his future mother-in-law and they had arrived together. He hurriedly grabbed Miriam by the arms, attempting to drag her out of the coffee shop.

Ashton remained poised under pressure. “Don’t rush to react. If we respond now, it’ll just reinforce their assumptions of our guilt,” Ashton whispered calmly. Then, in a deliberate manner, Ashton pulled out his phone and cranked the volume up to the maximum. The coffee shop was soon echoing with Phillip’s and Miriam’s earlier threatening and intimidating words.
Miriam was taken aback. She suddenly remembered seeing Ashton fiddle with his phone ever since he had arrived. He had been recording the entire exchange. The recording, juxtaposed with Miriam’s dramatic display of victimhood on the floor, starkly contrasted in the ears of the bystanders.

Upon hearing Aaron’s composed suggestion, Miriam began to panic. She turned to Phillip, seeking reassurance, only to find him wearing a grim expression.

Seeing Miriam’s hasty retreat, Phillip knew he had no option but to follow. He hurriedly left the coffee shop, running as swiftly as he could.
