On the other side of town, Ashton followed Isaac to a bar named “Night Dance” for a drink. To Ashton’s astonishment, as soon as they entered the bar, he spotted a familiar figure waving at him from a booth.
“Rosalie? What’s she doing here?” Ashton said, bewildered.
Isaac turned around, wearing a smug smile, and replied, “Of course, I invited her p>
Following this, Isaac and Ashton made their way to the booth where Rosalie was sitting. After urging Ashton to sit next to Rosalie, Isaac positioned himself on the outer edge of the other side of the booth, effectively blocking Ashton from sitting next to him. It was clear to Ashton what Isaac was up to.
Before Ashton could voice his thoughts, Isaac was quick to reveal his intentions. “Since you’ve figured it out, I might as well come clean. Yes, I gave Rosalie your phone number p>
Ashton simply shrugged, his resignation evident. Isaac continued hastily, “Ashton, you know the sort of person I am. Our family has business ties with the Campbell family, and I’ve known Rosalie for some time. I learned that Selena’s health was failing, and I thought you might be able to assist. That’s why I passed your number to Rosalie p>
Observing that Ashton’s expression hadn’t changed, Isaac grew slightly anxious and added, “Don’t look so grim, Ashton. The Campbell sisters are truly decent people. I made sure of that before I gave Rosalie your number. You and I have weathered many storms together; I wouldn’t do anything to jeopardize you p>
As soon as he finished this, Isaac saw that Ashton finally smiled.
Ashton laughed and responded, “Look at you, all anxious. You enjoy teasing me, so why get nervous when I tease p>
Isaac was momentarily surprised. “You’re really not upset with me p>
Ashton shook his head. “Why would I be upset? Do you honestly think I’m that petty p>

With a meaningful look, Isaac nodded toward Rosalie and winked. Amused, Ashton stood up and playfully punched Isaac, lightening the mood at the booth. This was for the best.
While Isaac maintained a cheerful facade, internally, he felt a sense of relief. It signified that Ashton had finally moved past his unsuccessful marriage. With this thought, Isaac glanced at Rosalie. He had been concerned that Ashton might react badly, so he had brought Rosalie along to offer apologies if needed. However, now he watched as Rosalie leaned toward Ashton, showing him something on her phone, their bodies nearly touching—perhaps not entirely by accident. This scenario left Isaac profoundly shocked.
It marked the first time he had observed Rosalie so intimately close to another man. Yet, Rosalie seemed entirely unaware of Isaac’s stunned look. She pointed at a popular video on her phone, gazing at Ashton with a mischievous smile.
“Quite the feat, Ashton. I had no clue you possessed such adept driving skills!” she playfully remarked.
Ashton responded with a casual smile, “It’s only alright. The mountain roads demand good drifting skills because they’re quite slippery p>
Rosalie couldn’t contain her amusement and let out a bell-like, clear laugh. Witnessing how effortlessly they interacted, without a hint of awkwardness, left Isaac both astounded and slightly suspicious.
He squinted, and then theatrically slapped his forehead, exclaiming in mock realization, “Oh, who would want to be the third wheel, sharing a table with a couple? Perhaps I should go to another table p>
Hearing Isaac’s joke, Rosalie suddenly realized the proximity between her and Ashton, and she quickly shifted her position, her cheeks flushing a soft pink. Ashton, unable to hide his irritation, shot a glare at Isaac, who merely grinned and winked, proud as if he had masterminded a grand scheme.
At that moment, Ashton’s phone began to ring. He checked the screen, noticing it was from an unfamiliar local number.
Deciding to break the ice, Ashton chose to answer the call. Surprisingly, it was Emalee on the other end, dialing from a new number.
Back at her home, Emalee had been cornered by her parents’ intense pressure, pushing her to a breaking point. Left with no other choice, she reluctantly reached out to Ashton.
As soon as the call connected, Emalee softened her voice, speaking in subdued tones.
“Ashton, could you possibly show some leniency toward Tristan? Please, write a letter of forgiveness and let him off just this once. After all, he’s still just a young kid p>
