Then, playing the mediator, Fraser flashed a smile at Phillip and spoke up. “Mr. Watson, Ashton is a buddy of mine. We’re pretty tight. I’d appreciate it if you didn’t make this an issue p>

Ashton, however, saw right through their pretense of aiding him while actually mocking him.

Fraser’s eyebrow twitched in annoyance, internally chastising Ashton for his audacity.
Phillip, seizing the opportunity, laughed derisively. “See, Mr. Horton? I told you this man is ungrateful. You offer him help, and he throws it back in your face p>
Ashton merely shrugged, his expression one of feigned resignation. “I never asked for help to begin with.” This only fueled Phillip’s anger toward Ashton’s boldness.
