Ashton surveyed the scene, his expression stern. They were surrounded by at least twenty armed gangsters.
Alone, Ashton could manage them despite the challenge. However, he wasn’t alone. Selena’s friends were with him, all caught in the trap.
No matter his skill in combat, protecting everyone was beyond him.
The best strategy was to improvise, waiting for the right moment to strike at Paul, their leader.
Choosing to bide his time, Ashton played the part of the captive. He, along with the female students, ended up in a deserted factory on the city’s fringe.
The gang’s primary grudge was with Phillip, and while they kept an eye on Ashton and the students, they allowed them some freedom of movement.
On the other hand, Phillip was treated with disdain, tossed to the ground forcefully as soon as they arrived.

Paul, unmoved, mocked him as he pressed his boot against Phillip’s head, taunting, “You’ve come to your senses now? Too bad; it’s too late. You’re not repentant. You’re petrified of dying p>
He then hurled Phillip aside. His henchmen closed in, barraging him with punches and kicks.
Phillip, overwhelmed, shielded his head and sobbed for mercy.
The assault took a humiliating turn when Phillip, overcome by fear, soiled himself.
The sight caused the gangsters to cease their attack and erupt in laughter.

Disenchanted by the lackluster challenge, Paul turned his attention away from Phillip, who turned out to be all bark and no bite.
His gaze landed on Emalee and the female students. Despite Emalee’s lack of Rosalie’s allure, she was undeniably striking.
The other young women also possessed a naive charm. Paul approached them, a sly grin on his face, his gaze heavy with unwelcome intent.
“It’s hard to say whether you ladies are unfortunate or fortunate. Unfortunate to be entangled with Phillip here, but perhaps fortunate to have crossed paths with us. Tonight, you might just find yourselves in paradise,” he jeered as he reached for Emalee.
Reacting quickly, Emalee pushed against him, but he swiftly grasped her wrists.
Her defiance seemed only to spur him on.
Paul’s smile widened maliciously. “Oh, I do enjoy a bit of spirit. It’s no fun without a little resistance, especially with your boyfriend watching p>
Despite her fear, which drained the color from her face, Emalee kept resisting.
She looked urgently toward Phillip for support.
However, to her despair, Phillip remained on the ground, silent and subdued, avoiding her gaze.
The sight of his inaction caused Emalee’s hope to fade, and she felt utterly defeated.
The man she had once held in such high regard proved to be nothing more than a coward.
A tear escaped Emalee’s eye as she closed them in despair.
She thought of how ironic it was that she had preserved herself for Phillip, only to face such a harrowing ordeal before him.
At her lowest point, a stern voice suddenly broke through the tension.
“Enough! Release her!” Ashton commanded, stepping forward decisively.
Emalee’s heart leapt as she looked over at Ashton.
His voice cut through the darkness, a beacon of hope.
