Ashton was practically a force of nature!
After departing from the stall where the incident had unfolded, Abrial found her gaze drifting toward Ashton more often than she realized. It was becoming clearer now why Rosalie would place her trust in such a man as her assistant.
Abrial herself had once witnessed someone unleash terrifying power like Ashton’s.
She recalled how that person had referred to it as “internal energy,” something he had cultivated over decades of practice and perseverance.
Yet here stood Ashton, a young man in his twenties, wielding a similar force. It was unthinkable!
Ashton, ever perceptive, caught Abrial’s lingering gaze. With a teasing grin, he said, “Abrial, what’s going on? Can’t stop staring? Just remember—I belong to Miss Campbell. Don’t get any grand ideas p>
Snapping out of her thoughts but not one to be outdone, Abrial quipped, “What if I manage to win over your boss? Doesn’t that mean you’d be mine too p>
At this, Rosalie instinctively stepped closer to Ashton.
Seeing their reactions, Abrial chuckled, trying to lighten the moment. “I’m just joking! No need to take it so seriously. We all know where we stand; no one’s stepping out of their lane p>
Ashton shrugged, still unsure whether Abrial was truly jesting or not.
Regardless, with the matter settled, the three of them decided it was time to leave the market behind.
But as they wandered back through the lively streets, Ashton suddenly stopped, his eyes locking onto a stall selling herbs.

Rosalie’s heart swelled at his words. He was still thinking about her sister’s health.
Gathering herself, she urged him, “Then don’t waste time. Buy them! Whatever the cost p>
Ashton had already made up his mind, but just as he stepped forward, a figure pushed past him. “I’ll take all of these,” the man said, his voice sharp. “Pack them up.” The voice was unmistakable to Ashton. Turning around, he found himself face to face with none other than Craig. Craig, clearly surprised to see Ashton and his companions, quickly masked his shock with a scowl. “You again? Why do you keep showing up like a bad penny p>
Abrial, having overheard Ashton’s explanation about the herbs, couldn’t resist a jab. “Craig, you say one thing, but your body says something else, right? You just denied having any health problems and called it Ashton’s nonsense, but here you are buying medicine p>
Embarrassed but defiant, Craig snapped back, “What the hell are you talking about? These aren’t for me—they’re for our grandfather. His birthday banquet is coming up, and these herbs will help maintain his health. I’m perfectly fine p>
It was hard to tell if Craig was bluffing or not, but one thing was clear—both Ashton and Craig wanted the same prize.
