That afternoon, as soon as Lucy returned to Jane’s house, she found that Jane had already booked a divorce lawyer for her.
When the lawyer asked about her demands, Lucy answered with calm resolve. “I don’t want anything. I just want a clean break p>
The Sherwood family’s fortune had nothing to do with her. Besides, she was more than capable of supporting a child on her own.
The lawyer didn’t press further. He agreed immediately and quickly drafted the divorce agreement.
“Once this agreement is signed,” Lucy asked, “does that mean our marriage is legally dissolved p>
“We still need to file the paperwork and obtain the final decree,” the lawyer explained patiently. “Both parties will need that document if they wish to remarry in the future p>
Lucy nodded. “Thank you. I understand p>
After Jane saw the lawyer out, she walked into the guest bedroom.
Jane found Lucy sitting on the sofa, staring into space. She sank down beside her
and, without a word, pulled her close into a warm embrace.
“When do you plan to go find him? I’ll go with you p>
“Tomorrow morning,” Lucy replied softly.
She just wanted to end this as quickly as possible and leave.
Her morning sickness was still an issue; the longer she dragged this out, the higher
the risk of being discovered. It was a gamble she couldn’t take.
“Okay, I’ll be right there with you,” Jane said, her tone firm.
Just then, Lucy’s phone buzzed-she’d just gotten a file from the private investigator.
She tapped it open. After reading the contents, a cold, ironic smile touched her lips.
She handed the phone to Jane. Jane read it and gritted her teeth in fury. “His devotion is laughably pathetic! Leave this to me. Let me deal with this loser p>
“He’s not worth it,” Lucy shook her head. “Jane, let Mr. Fletcher come home. It’s not his fault. Kingsley deceived everyone. I don’t want my situation to affect your marriage p>
Jane nodded. “Don’t worry, I’m just scaring him a bit. He probably knew the truth earlier than us and just didn’t say anything p>
Hearing this, Lucy finally felt a weight lift from her heart.
The next morning, when Lucy arrived at The Vista Gardens, Kingsley happened to still be there.
Paula’s eyes lit up when she saw her. “Madam! Lady Jane p>
Lucy gave a slight nod, her gaze drifting toward the living room.
Kingsley sat on the sofa, clad in a black suit He raised a hand to cut off Shane, who was reporting his schedule, and fixed his deep cold eyes of Lucy. Phe tone was icy. You got rid of the child. Happy now p>
“Of course I’m happy p>
Lucy placed the divorce agreement and a medical report confirming the termination
of a pregnancy in front of him. Her voice was calm but edged with steel.
“Your misery makes my day. Sign it p>
She didn’t want to say anything more. Words were useless now.
Kingsley picked up the termination report. After reading it, his eyes instantly reddened. He stared at her intensely. “Lucy, you are heartless p>
“However heartless you think I am, I’m nothing compared to you.” Lucy didn’t blink, her eyes locked on his as she spoke slowly and clearly. “You are the one who caused all of this! The debt the Lynwood family owed the Masons has been paid with a life p>
She knew everything about the Mason family now.
Looking at this man wrapped in his self-righteous “devotion,” Lucy’s lips curled into a mocking smile. How utterly touching, she thought, that he’d go to such lengths for a childhood crush.
She scoffed, “Kingsley, without the child, you can be with your

childhood sweetheart without any reservations. Don’t pretend you loved this baby. You only wanted him because your beloved Joyce can’t get pregnant and you needed a prop to make your grandmother happy. Too bad. However clever your plan was, it’s not going your way p>
