Just as she put her phone away and looked up, Lucy wasn’t paying attention and walked straight into a solid “wall” of muscle.
The faint smell of alcohol mixed with a crisp, masculine scent instantly enveloped her senses.
“So—” She instinctively started to apologize, but the words halted abruptly in her throat. Her eyes met Kingsley’s cold, handsome face.
“Walking without looking?” The man’s voice was as cold as ice. His gaze swept over her light purple top and long skirt; evidently, she had changed her clothes.
Lucy rubbed her nose, which was stinging from the impact, and retorted, not wanting to show weakness, “Were you looking p>
With that, she took half a step back, stepped around him, and headed straight for the restroom.
Kingsley watched her retreating figure, took a few steps with his long legs, and stopped by the window.
He took out a cigarette case, lit one, and took a deep drag. Smoke slowly curled from his fingertips.
A moment later, Wyatt, who had drunk quite a bit of water, also came out to use the restroom. Out of the corner of his eye, he glimpsed Kingsley smoking in the corridor. He gave him a cursory glance before quickly looking away.
A few minutes later, he met Lucy coming out of the restroom and immediately
warned her, “Lucy, your scumbag ex-husband is up ahead p>
Lucy smiled faintly, her tone calm. “It’s fine. I don’t care about scumbags p>
Wyatt glanced at her and immediately moved closer to declare his loyalty. “Exactly! He’s not the only man in the world. For example, look at me—sunny, handsome, and most importantly, obedient and caring p>
“Yes, and young,” Lucy nodded in agreement, suppressing a laugh.
The two walked forward, chatting and laughing. As they passed Kingsley, a cold, hard warning cut through the air.
“Wyatt, whatever you’re planning, stop trying to get close to Joyce p>
Wyatt stopped, turned his head, and raised an eyebrow. “Mr. Sherwood, are you my dad or my mom? You’re managing an awful lot p>
Lucy also stopped, standing quietly to the side.
