Kingsley’s knuckles turned white as he gripped the termination report. He then snatched up the divorce agreement from the table.
Seeing the clause stating she wanted nothing-a complete, clean break-he didn’t say a word. He only barked, “Pen p>
Shane hurriedly handed him a pen. Kingsley aggressively scrawled his signature.
Lucy picked up the agreement, checked it, and looked up. “We’ll go to City Hall this afternoon to file the final papers p>
“I’m not available this afternoon,” Kingsley refused coldly.
Jane glanced at him, her tone dripping with mockery. “How much time does it take to file for divorce? Less than a tenth of the time you spend flying overseas, surely p>
Kingsley twirled the pen in his fingers, shooting a cold glare at her. “You’re an accomplice to killing my child. Do I look like I need advice from you p>
“If it weren’t for Lucy, do you think I’d waste my breath on you?” Jane’s eyes were full of frost. “I’m the accomplice? You’re the root cause. Are you unclear on that p>
She silently tallied this debt. The pain Lucy suffered would be repaid by him, doubled, sooner or later.
Lucy tugged at Jane’s arm, signaling her not to argue with him. She turned to Kingsley and said, “Tomorrow morning, then p>
She couldn’t afford to drag this out, nor did she want to.
“So eager?” Kingsley asked back, his tone carrying an unreadable implication.
Lucy sneered. “Yes. The thought of spending another day as your wife makes me feel sick p>
Kingsley’s face darkened ominously. He ordered Shane, “Clear my schedule for tomorrow morning p>
“Yes, sir,” Shane responded immediately.
Kingsley didn’t look at Lucy again. He stood up and stormed out.
Paula brought out a platter of cut fruit, smiling warmly. “Madam, Lady Jane, please have some fruit p>
Lucy looked at her and said softly, “Paula, please just call me Lucy from now on. I’m going upstairs to get some things. Do you want to come and keep an eye on things p>
Paula shook her head. “No need, absolutely not p>
Lucy turned and went upstairs to the master bedroom.
The room looked the same, but it felt indescribably cold, lacking its former vitality.
She quickly packed her personal belongings, stuffing them all into her bag.
Jane had followed her up. Seeing Lucy’s calm face, Jane’s heart clenched with helpless sympathy.
At that moment, Jane’s phone rang. It was Thurston.
“Honey, are you at The Vista Gardens?” his voice came through the speaker.
“Yeah. Heading home soon,” Jane replied.

After they went downstairs, Paula walked them to the door.
Lucy looked back at her one last time. “Paula, take care of yourself p>
Paula nodded, her heart aching as she replied, “You take care too, Madam p>
Lucy got into the car and took a few sips of water to suppress the sudden wave of

She looked up at the villa where she
