Ethan lost it the second he heard that. “Who are you calling a quack p>
Then he added, “Fine, I’m a quack! Then why are you here when you have your own family doctor p>
Ethan stomped off as if to leave, but turned back after two steps, holding up a finger at Kingsley, his eyes gleaming with “shrewd business sense p>
“I have a special ointment for bruising. Works better than the regular stuff. For this price p>
“Why don’t you just rob a bank?” Kingsley glanced at him coldly and stood up to leave.
Ethan quickly grabbed him, softening his tone. “Consider it a favor you owe me, alright? You can pay me back later p>
He turned to rummage through a medicine cabinet and soon handed over a tube of ointment. “Apply it multiple times a day. It speeds up the dissipation p>
Kingsley took the ointment and turned to leave.
“Wait!” Ethan suddenly called out, handing him another identical tube.
“Take this to Thurston too. He needs it for his face p>
“He doesn’t need it.” Kingsley didn’t look back, didn’t stop, and walked straight out of the lab.
The next morning at 10:30 AM, inside the City Hall lobby, Lucy had taken a number early.
She checked her watch. Kingsley hadn’t arrived yet.
Just as she was about to pull out her phone to call, she saw Kinsley striding in from the entrance. His figure was as upright as ever, but he no longer held the allure that once moved her heart.
Lucy withdrew her gaze and silently pulled her ID and documents from her bag. Her fingers tightened slightly, but there was no hesitation.
Soon, their number was called.
The clerk took the documents and glanced at them.
Normally, a divorce like theirs required a cooling-off period, but Jane had already pulled strings through James Shaw. The clerk simply looked up at the two of them. “Have you thought this through p>
“Yes,” Lucy’s voice wasn’t loud, but it was exceptionally firm.
All the fantasies and expectations in this marriage had shattered completely the moment she learned the truth.
The clerk turned to Kingsley, who wore a face of indifference. “Sir,
have you thought it through? Once. this stamp goes down, you are officially divorced.” fo
A faint “Mmm” escaped Kingsley’s throat.
“Sir, I need a clear verbal answer,” the clerk insisted.
He finally looked up, his voice cold. “Yes p>
As soon as the words fell, with a crisp clack, the red seal was firmly stamped onto the divorce papers.
The clerk handed them their separate divorce decrees.
Lucy took hers. When her fingertips touched the documents, she felt an instant release in her heart.
She quickly stuffed the document into her bag and stood up to leave, showing no lingering attachment.
Kingsley fingered the decree in his
hand, watching her retreating back.
His lips curled into a mocking sneer.

Lucy didn’t stop, didn’t even give him a glance, and walked straight out the main doors of City Hall.
The moment she pushed the doors open, sunlight spilled onto her face.
Lucy suddenly felt the air tasted sweet.
From now on, there was no Kingsley in her world. Just her and the baby in her belly. Everything was a new beginning.
She walked to the parking lot and saw Jane leaning against her car from a distance, holding a bouquet of bright sunflowers.
“Congratulations, Lucy.” Jane stepped forward, placing the flowers in her hands, her smile warm.
“Lucy, from this moment on, be happy and joyful every single day p>
Lucy held the fresh flowers, her eyes growing hot. “I could get to this day, to this new life, all because of you p>
Jane hugged her gently, her tone full of affirmation.
“It’s because you were clear-headed enough, brave enough. Otherwise, no matter how much I wanted to helpot would have been useless tucy, you are amazing
Not far away, Kingsley watched this scene-specifically the bright flowers in Lucy’s hands. It felt dazzling and ironic.
She was truly happy to divorce him. All she needed was some fireworks to make it perfect.
