Chapter 85
Lucy gently towel-dried his damp hair and asked softly, “Do you want to keep playing with blocks p>
Seven simply rested his small head on her shoulder without a sound, clearly drained
of energy.
“Shall Mommy read you a story then?” Lucy suggested gently.
The little boy nodded immediately, his voice soft. “Read… story p>
Lucy carried him to the bedroom and dressed him in his pajamas. Suddenly, her phone rang. The nanny quickly brought it over. Seeing it was Emma, Lucy answered.
“Lucy, have you checked the Project Lunar Tide group chat?” Emma’s voice came through the receiver.
Lucy glanced down at Seven, who was staring up at her obediently. She rubbed his head and replied quietly, “Not yet. Why p>
“The group is saying they want you to return to the country to supervise the construction progress personally,” Emma explained hurriedly.
“Okay, I’ll take a look.” Lucy opened the group chat, scanned the message sent by Sean, and quickly exited. “I know. I’ll reply later. You don’t need to worry about it p>
“Okay,” Emma agreed, then asked, “Lucy, when do you think you’ll be coming back to work p>
Lucy paused before saying softly, “Give it a few more days p>
After hanging up, Lucy didn’t rush to reply to the group. Instead, she picked up a storybook and began reading to Seven. At first, the little boy in her arms listened intently, but soon his head began to droop, and he drifted off to sleep.
Lucy touched his forehead gently-his skin was slightly damp with sweat, and his temperature had finally gone down.
She carefully placed Seven on the bed and used a dry towel to wipe the sweat from his brow. Only then did she pick up her phone and reply in the work group:
[Mr. Sterling, hasn’t The Holt Group already sent personnel over? Furthermore, our contract clearly defined the responsibilities regarding progress p>
[By suddenly demanding I go there, is Mr. Sterling planning to breach the contract p>
Back in the country, Sean was processing documents in his office.
Seeing Lucy’s two replies, he immediately took a screenshot and sent it to Kingsley with a teasing remark: [Mr. Sherwood, get twenty million ready for the penalty fee, and your ex-wife might agree to corne back p>
He sent the message and went back to work. When he checked his phone later, there was still no movement from Kingsley.
Sean didn’t overthink it and dialed Kingsley directly. The receiver only played a mechanical prompt. The subscriber you diated is currently out of the service area, please try again later p>
He switched to calling Shane. The call was answered quickly.
“This is Sean. You guys are back in the country, right?” Sean got straight to the point.
“Yes, Mr. Sterling, we have returned,” Shane’s voice replied.
“Are you with Kingsley right now? I can’t get through to him,” Sean asked.
“No, Mr. Sherwood went home to rest. If it’s urgent, please call him tomorrow,” Shane explained, reasoning that Kingsley likely didn’t want to be disturbed at the
manor.
Sean paused, then chuckled. “Wow, it’s a miracle. He actually went to sleep this early p>
Hanging up, Sean looked at Lucy’s messages in the group again and
decided to ignore them He wasn’t
the anxious one; they could talk after Kinsley paid the penalty fee tomorrow.
