Hearing “Ex-husband,” surprise washed over Sean’s face. He knew Kingsley had
been married, but he never imagined the ex-wife was Lucy.
He glanced at Kingsley, who was leaning back in his chair, looking cold and unreadable. Meanwhile, Lucy was the picture of professional composure: nude heels, a champagne-colored pencil skirt that highlighted her tall figure, and a simple long sleeved shirt with. sleeves rolled up to reveal slender wrists. Her hair was tied in a loose, low bun. The playful, laughing girl from the past was gone.
During the meeting, Kingsley’s eyes followed the designs on the screen, listening carefully to Lucy’s presentation. He occasionally raised objections, but Lucy answered every query with logical precision and calm composure.
The meeting lasted over an hour. Emma noted all the necessary adjustments.
Afterward, Lucy politely declined Sean’s lunch invitation and left the room with Emma.
