Chapter 89
In the evening, Lucy was holding Seven.
Seven had caught a virus over the last two days and had a recurring fever. At first, he still had some energy, but now he was listless, lying softly on her shoulder, his little head bobbing weakly.
Her phone vibrated suddenly, the screen displaying an unfamiliar number from back home.
Lucy frowned, assuming it was a sales call-few people domestically would contact her—so she didn’t plan to answer. But the caller was persistent; as soon as it disconnected, a second call came through.
“Mommy Seven, resting on her shoulder, lifted a small finger and pointed at the buzzing phone.
Lucy looked down and rubbed his hot little head. Her fingers felt the warmth, and she finally swiped to answer.
“Miss Lynwood, hello, this is Shane,” a familiar male voice came from the other end. “The Vista Gardens has received quite a few birthday gifts sent to you by brands. I wanted to confirm with you: should we ship them to Switzerland, or wait for you to pick them up when you return to the country p>
A flicker of impatience crossed Lucy’s mind. She hadn’t cared about these things to begin with. She almost said to throw them away, but on second thought, donating them was better.
Keeping her voice low to avoid disturbing Seven, she said, “Okay, I’ll arrange for someone to pick them up from The Vista Gardens tomorrow p>
“Okay, thank you, Miss Lynwood.” Shane replied.
After hanging up, Lucy quickly messaged Jane. A few seconds later, a reply popped up: [Okay, I’ll arrange it p>
Immediately after, a warm voice message arrived from Jane: [Once I wrap up my current work, I’ll bring Molly to Switzerland to see you and Seven p>
Lucy looked at the screen, the corners of her mouth curving up involuntarily. She typed back: [You are welcome anytime p>
The Capital.
In the passenger seat, Shane finished the call and turned to report to the back seat. “Mr. Sherwood, Miss Lynwood replied. She said she’ll arrange for someone to pick up the items from The Vista Gardens tomorrow p>
Kingsley, resting with his eyes closed in the back, only gave a faint “Mmm” and asked nothing more.
Just then, the phone on his lap vibrated. Glancing at the name “Joyce” on the caller ID, he swiped to answer.
“Kingsley! I got the spot to go abroad as an exchange student!” Joyce’s voice on the other end was full of jubilation, unable to hide her excitement.
“Congratulations p>
Kingsley’s response remained calm, holding no ripples of emotion.
Joyce didn’t seem to mind the coldness and continued, “I’m leaving next
Wednesday, and I won’t be back for half a year… Can we have a meal together tomorrow p>
“Schedule a time with Shane,” Kingsley replied concisely.
Joyce seemed to take this as permission. Her lips curved up instantly as she replied cheerfully, “Okay p>
Hanging up, Kingsley tossed the
phone onto the empty seat beside him and looked up at Shane in the front, “Clear your schedule for tomorrow noon. Arrange lunch with Joyce p>
Shane froze Mr. Sherwood rarely ate alone with Joyce. This sudden arrangement was confusing. But he recovered quickly and replied, “Yes, Mr. Sherwood Hesitating h desitating, he added, Do you feel like American o Mexican food p>
Kingsley glanced at him and asked, “How many times do I eat Mexican food p>
Shane muttered subconsciously, “Not many p>
In his heart, however, he added silently: “He did eat it a few times with Miss
Lynwood because she likes it, but that was all just for show back then p>
He immediately raised his voice to reply, “American food it is! Shall I reserve a private room p>
“Private room p>
Kingsley’s tone was decisive. A hint of calculation flashed in his eyes, he wanted to avoid being photographed by the media which would only lead to more embellished rumors.
“Understood!” Shane agreed immediately, taking out his phone to make arrangements.
