Chapter 52
When Lucy returned to the hotel from the Sterling Group, Jane was already waiting in the room with Molly.
Molly was lying by the table, drawing intently.
The moment she glimpsed Lucy, she dropped her crayons and ran over on her short legs, her voice sweet and childish. “Lucy p>
Lucy set down her handbag and bent to scoop the little girl securely into her arms, gently nuzzling her cheek. “Molly, you’ve gotten even cuter. You’re as soft and cuddly as Seven p>
Molly rested her small head on Lucy’s shoulder and asked softly, “Lucy, why didn’t baby brother Seven come p>
“I’m here for work this time, sweetie, so I couldn’t bring him along p>
Lucy looked down at the sweetie in her arms and couldn’t resist kissing her forehead. “Do you miss him? If you do, you can come with me to Switzerland later and play with Seven, okay p>
Molly immediately looked up with clear, bright eyes. She glanced at Jane first before whispering, “I want to go with Mommy. By the way, Lucy, does baby Seven cry a lot p>
“Okay, you can come with Mommy,” Lucy said with a smile, pinching her soft cheek. “Seven is very tough; he rarely cries p>
“Oh, then we have to bring Grandpa and Grandma too!” Molly added quietly.
Lucy smiled and agreed. “Of course p>
Jane spoke up then, explaining gently to Molly, “Grandpa is busy with work and can’t just go abroad whenever he wants. When Mommy has free time, I’ll take you to see Seven p>
“Okay!” Molly giggled immediately.
Watching the scene, Lucy’s eyes filled with tenderness. “It’s only after becoming a mother that you realize how healing children are when they’re good or just sitting quietly. Like little angels p>
Jane nodded, feeling the same. “That’s true. But when they throw a tantrum, it’s enough to give you a migraine p>
Lucy put Molly down and turned to her suitcase to retrieve a gift. “Look, I brought you a present p>
Molly saw the Elsa doll gift set and her eyes lit up. She reached out to take it, saying crisply, “Thank you, Lucy p>
“You’re welcome.” Lucy rubbed her little head, her eyes full of mirth.
After resting in the room for a while, the three of them got ready to go out for dinner.
At the restaurant entrance, Lucy and Jane each held one of Molly’s
hands. Just as they were abone
walk in, they ran into two figures suits Thurston and Kingsley
The moment Molly saw Thurston, she let go of Jane and Lucy’s hands, trotted over to him, hugged his leg and looked up excitedly. “Daddy, are you here to eat too p>
Thurston bent down to pick her up, tapping her little nose lightly. “Yes, what a coincidence. I can have dinner with Molly p>
At that moment, Molly noticed Kingsley beside Thurston and called out in her sweet
voice, “Mr. Kingsley! I haven’t seen you in a long time p>
Kingsley’s originally cold expression softened a fraction, his voice dropping lower. “I’ve been busy p>
“Busy with what? Work?” Molly blinked her big eyes, full of curiosity.
“Yes, work.” Kingsley’s gaze rested on Molly in Thurston’s arms, his eyes unconsciously softening.
Yet, in his heart, a quiet thought
arose about the child he couldn’tet
keep if they were still here,
they
would probably be as cute as Molly.
He subconsciously looked up at Lucy nearby. The tenderness in his eyes vanished instantly, replaced by a complex gloom.
A moment later, he said nothing more and walked into the restaurant first, following the waiter toward the private dining rooms.
Meanwhile, Jane held Lucy’s arm and looked at Molly. “Molly, do you want to go eat with Daddy p>
“No, I want to be with you and Lucy. Daddy smells like booze. It’s stinky.” Molly shook her head decisively, her two little pigtails swaying.
