After having some time to cool down, Elissa had already thought it through. Elissa hesitated before shaking her head. “I don’t think so.” He had come far too prepared for it to be just about a single project.
Just then, her phone, which was resting on the center console, buzzed. She picked it up. It was a text from her bank notifying her of a deposit. The payment and bonus for the Murphy Group project had arrived.
“What is it?” Tanya asked, noticing her focus.

Holding hands, walking the dog, strolling together. In every single picture, Rowan was looking at her with an expression of such profound affection it seemed as if he could imagine a life with no one else.
For a second, even Elissa almost believed it. But the truth was, he had never chosen her, not nine years ago, and not today.
