Especially Frank, the ex–husband.

With that, he turned and walked away–calm on the surface–but headed straight for the underground parking lot.
He sped off, driving towards the research institute.
Even though Tanya Foster had played her part flawlessly, something still didn’t sit right with him. His instincts screamed that something was off.
He needed to know exactly where his little Elissa was, what she was doing, and, most importantly, who she was with.
Murphy Group had security on duty around the clock.
At night, patrols were even stricter to prevent anyone from sneaking in and causing trouble when most employees were gone.
Especially now, with the R&D department’s latest project–the higher–ups had made it crystal clear: this was the top priority, and nothing could be allowed to go wrong.

So, as soon as Frank’s car pulled up to the gate, a guard stopped him. “Can I help you, sir p>
“I’m here to see someone,” Frank replied.
“Who? Which department p>
“The R&D department. Elissa p>

The guard radioed a colleague and, after a brief exchange, turned back to Frank. “There are people working late in R&D, but no one’s seen Ms. Drummond. Maybe try calling her again p>
Frank’s jaw tightened, his tone turning cold. “Understood p>
He got back in the car and, without hesitation, made a call. “Find out where Cliff lives p>
Moments later, a text popped up on his phone–an address in a neighborhood not far from Vistapeak Gardens.
Frank’s eyes darkened with anger. He drove straight there.
It wasn’t terribly late, and plenty of apartment windows were still lit up when he arrived.
Frank got out of the car and, glancing up, immediately spotted the window that matched Cliff’s address–a wide floor–to–ceiling pane, light filtering through sheer curtains. He could make out only shadows inside.
There was just one tall man moving about.
Frank was about to let out a breath of relief–until he saw a woman suddenly rush over and throw her arms around the man from behind.
It felt as if a sharp knife had plunged right into Frank’s chest, making him double over with pain.
Before coming here, Frank had told himself that if he saw anything suspicious, he’d march upstairs, knock on the door, and bring Elissa home.
