This time, she wasn’t the patient; she had brought her grandmother.
Elissa checked the older woman’s pulse, asked a series of patient questions, and then wrote up a prescription, carefully listing all the dietary restrictions Lorraine needed to enforce.
Unable to hold back, Lorraine asked, “My grandmother’s condition…”
“It’s curable.”
Elissa smiled and gently patted the old woman’s hand. “Make sure you drink your medicine and follow the diet, and you’ll easily live to be a hundred.”
Lorraine and her grandmother finally let out a collective breath of relief.
Lorraine excitedly turned to her grandmother. “See? I told you Elissa is an incredible doctor!”
Just as she spoke, a knock came at the office door.
A nurse poked her head in, beaming. “Dr. Elissa, a handsome guy named Wilkinson is here asking when you’ll be off work?”
Lorraine hadn’t been able to secure an appointment this time either, so Elissa had squeezed her in as a favor.
They were her final patients for the morning; once they were done, she could leave. Elissa chuckled softly. “I can leave right now. Ask him to wait just a few minutes.” Jesse Wilkinson had called her on her way to work.
He had business near the clinic around noon and wanted to treat her to lunch before driving her back to Zephyr Manor together.
However…
Elissa hadn’t expected Lorraine to show up today. Logically, she should have invited Lorraine and her grandmother to eat.
But since Jesse was paying, bringing an unexpected friend and an elderly relative along would be highly inappropriate.
Sensing her hesitation, Lorraine spoke up first. “You squeezed my grandmother in; I’m the one who should be treating you to lunch. But it looks like you’ve already got plans. Raincheck?”
“Sounds perfect.”
Elissa smiled, and the three of them walked out together.
As they neared the corridor, Elissa spotted Jesse standing near the reception desk.

Standing amidst the bustling lobby, he merely gave off a relaxed, understated elegance.
It was enough to make the nurses at the desk sneak constant, admiring glances his way.
The moment Elissa saw him, he

“Jesse,”
Elissa’s smile widened as she closed the distance in two quick strides.
Given the ongoing collaboration between the Murphy Group and the Wilkinson Group, Lorraine, as Rowan’s secretary, had bumped into Jesse a few times.
Out of all the men she had met, Jesse left a particularly strong impression.
Despite his immense wealth and privileged upbringing, he had none of that typical spoiled heir entitlement.
She just hadn’t realized he was this close to Elissa.
Masking her surprise, Lorraine smiled and offered a polite nod. “Mr. Wilkinson.”
“Hello.”
Jesse returned the greeting, then glanced at Elissa.
He could tell Elissa and Lorraine knew each other, but he wasn’t sure how deep their friendship went.
Picking up on his curiosity, Elissa explained, “We’re friends. She brought her grandmother in for a consultation.”
“Would you both like to join us for lunch? I’ve booked a private dining room,” Jesse offered politely.
The invitation was sincere, not just empty courtesy.
Since Elissa was quite familiar with him, she didn’t feign politeness and turned to ask Lorraine.
Lorraine quickly waved it off with smile. “No, thank you. I have a business meeting this afternoon. I have to drop my grandmother off a home and rush back to the office.”
