A mechanical female voice informed him the phone was turned off.
Cliff began to feel a knot of anxiety form in his stomach. “Was that Frank you were calling?”
“Yeah.”
Rowan’s heart seized violently. His face was thunderous, looking as if a storm were about to break. He snapped his phone shut and looked at Aaron. “Elissa might be in trouble. I have to go find her right now. I’ll leave a few guards here—if anything happens, you just…”
“Alright, alright.”
Aaron was just as anxious and cut him off. “You don’t need to worry about things here. Go find Elissa immediately!”
The girl was pregnant; she couldn’t afford a single mishap.
Aaron was already regretting not stopping her from leaving earlier.
Cliff looked at Rowan. “I’ll come with you. Another pair of hands can’t hurt.”
“I have enough people.”
Rowan rejected the offer flatly. “Stay here with Mr. Blaine and confirm if the antidote is real.”
Without another word, he led lan out of the room, his long legs eating up the distance.
The moment they stepped out of the ward, Rowan’s aura grew even more aggressive. He asked without looking back, “Have you tracked Frank’s movements yet?”
“I’m checking now.”
lan felt his scalp prickle with tension.
It had barely been a minute or two; no matter how efficient he was, miracles took slightly longer.
But he was just as frantic, terrified that Elissa was in real danger.
Everyone in their inner circle cared deeply for Elissa. She had practically grown up under their watchful eyes.
When she was little, every single one of them had held her, coaxed her, and picked her up from school at some point.
The ward was on the third floor. Rowan didn’t even bother waiting for the elevator. He bolted down the emergency stairs and sprinted straight for the security room.
The guard slacking off in the monitoring room suddenly saw a shadow block his screen. Looking up, he was met with Rowan’s terrifyingly dark expression. His brain nearly short-circuited as he shot to his feet, stammering, “M-Mr. Murphy?”
lan jerked his chin toward the monitors. “Pull up the footage from the hospital entrance from half an hour ago.”
The guard frantically queued up the video.
Rowan’s sharp gaze locked onto the screen. Within seconds, his finger tapped the glass. “Stop.”
The footage showed Elissa walking hurriedly out of the inpatient building toward the main gate.
The hospital cameras had zero blind spots. Shortly after, they watched Elissa get into a black Maybach with Plate CH-8888.
lan gritted his teeth. “That’s definitely Frank’s car.”
Rowan’s fury exploded, his face cast in terrifying shadows. “Check the traffic cameras along the route. See which way they went.”
“Yes, sir.”

Evan already knew what had happened. He floored the accelerator, the car tearing through the streets like a hurricane.
On the way, updates on the vehicle’s whereabouts began to stream in.
“Boss, the car she got into headed toward Atwater Manor,” Ian reported.
“But we can’t access the footage inside the Atwater estate’s perimeter yet.”
The Atwater Manor’s security firewall was just as advanced as Atwater Group; their hackers needed a little more time to break through.
“However,”
lan added quickly, “The car never left the Atwater estate after entering. We’ve verified all the intersections. She has to be at the manor.”
Hearing this, a flicker of confusion pierced the cold fury in Rowan’s eyes. “Are you
telling me he just lured her to his house for tea and a catch-up?”
The question made lan realize how bizarre the situation was.
While they had been on their way to Atwater Group to get the antidote, he had
already uncovered Frank’s movements at Bayview Docks.
If Frank truly wanted to kidnap Elissa, his first priority would have been to get her out of the Murphy family’s territory.
Yet here he was, taking her back to his own house and wasting time.
Nothing about this made sense.
lan hesitated. “Then… are we still going to Atwater Manor?”
“Go.”
Rowan closed his eyes, forcing himself to stay calm and analyze the situation.
“Have the checkpoints at all entrances and exits been secured?”
“We’ve coordinated with the police to set up roadblocks at every highway on-ramp leaving the city.”
lan answered swiftly. “Every dock,
airport, and train station is being monitored by the sky-eye system and our men it’s absolutely impossible for her to be smuggled out through those routes.”
It seemed every possible loophole had been plugged.
All that was left was to find her on their own turf.
It should be foolproof.
Much simpler than the countless life-and-death situations they had navigated in the
past.
And yet, lan noticed Rowan’s fingers trembling slightly against his thigh.
Before lan could offer any comfort, the man who was usually always in absolute control murmured softly, “She won’t get hurt, right? She can’t possibly get hurt, right?”
