Ever since Marcia started dropping by Wilkinson Group every other day, boldly claiming she could cure his mother’s paralysis, Jesse had someone discreetly look into her background.
Nothing came up about miraculous recoveries or healing expertise–instead, a string of questionable activities surfaced.
By contrast, Dr. Drummond–whose credentials Rex had already shared with the Wilkinson family–was Aaron’s protégé and had been practicing medicine for fifteen years.
Yet Dr. Drummond never flaunted her status as Aaron’s student. Instead, she quietly devoted herself to seeing patients at Serenity Wellness Center, earning an outstanding reputation among those she treated.
Jesse couldn’t fathom where Marcia found the nerve to compare herself to Dr. Drummond.
Seeing Marcia’s lingering defiance, Jesse decided to lay his cards on the table. “My mother has been paralyzed for over a decade–she’s been in a wheelchair all these years. Are you telling me you can cure her? ”
The question stunned Marcia. She shot a disbelieving look at Elissa. “Since when could you cure paralysis? Are you really so desperate to curry favor with the Wilkinson family that you’d start making up lies like this? ”
“I’ve always been able to,” Elissa replied with a calm, faint smile. “If you spent half as much time honing your skills as you do scheming, maybe you’d actually get somewhere p>
As soon as she finished, Elissa and Jesse stepped into the elevator together, leaving Marcia to be blocked by security.
After leaving Wilkinson Group, Marcia’s face was clouded with frustration. She made a beeline for her own office and summoned William.
“Someone’s been paralyzed for more than ten years. How confident would you be in curing them?” The more she thought about it, the more incredulous she became.
If Elissa truly had a cure for that, her name would be as famous as Aaron’s throughout the city–she wouldn’t need to bother with complicated drug research. Just treating the wealthy families who’d flock to her would be enough to make her rich beyond measure.

“None at all?” Marcia pressed.
“None,” William said, settling into the chair across from her. “Maybe if the injury was recent, I’d say there’s a slim chance. But after more than a decade? It’s impossible p>
So Elissa was lying–just as Marcia suspected–to worm her way into the Wilkinson family’s good

Marcia’s face twisted with envy and resentment. “So if Aaron passed that technique on to Elissa, she could actually pull it off p>
“There’s only ever one successor per generation,” William reminded her. “Mr. Blaine would have passed it on only to his chosen student p>
At that, Marcia’s anxiety eased and a smug smile curled on her lips. If Elissa was lying to the Wilkinson family, she was digging her own grave. Now Marcia was eager to see how Elissa planned to talk her way out of this mess.

“Promising? Not even close!” William snapped. “It’s no better than the cancer meds already on the market. At best, you could say it’s neither here nor there–no harm, but no real benefit either p>
