Elissa paused, caught slightly off guard.
She knew Frank was referring to the fact that she and Rowan were growing close again.
But the reason she had distanced herself from Rowan before was never because the Murphy family had killed her parents.
That was never what she cared about.
She understood clearly that the incident had nothing to do with anyone else, especially not Rowan, who had only been a young boy at the time.

She felt a momentary daze.
She had to consciously think back to remind herself that they had actually shared a polite, three-year marriage.
At the Serenity Traditional Medicine Center, Elissa’s consultation room was as packed as ever.
No one had been deterred by the online scandal. The moment her appointment slots opened, they vanished in seconds.
If anything, many of the patients who were called in made a point to ask how she was doing or comfort her, telling her not to listen to the trolls online.
At noon, after finishing her consultations, Elissa was taking off her white coat to leave when someone knocked and entered.
