Every second they saved increased the chances of Elissa coming home safe.
When they arrived at Atwater Manor, a maid answered the door. Seeing Rowan’s chillingly dark expression, she flinched in fright. “Mr. Murphy, are you looking for…”
Rowan swept a dark glance over the courtyard. “Is Frank here?”
“He is.”
Rowan’s gaze sharpened into an interrogation. “When did he get back?”
The maid thought for a moment. “Probably at least half an hour ago?”
Saying this, she stepped back to let them in. “Please come in.”
“If you want to see the Young Master, I have to inform the Old Madam first.”
As she spoke, they had already entered the reception hall, and the maid hurriedly moved toward the stairs.
Rowan stopped her. “I can’t see him without Old Mrs. Atwater’s permission?” “…Probably not.”
The maid glossed over the specifics. “Our Young Master has been in the Family Chapel ever since he returned.”

But right now, Elissa’s whereabouts were unknown.
She might even be hidden right here in this house.
Rowan couldn’t maintain his polite facade. The lethal intent in his eyes was completely unmasked. “Old Mrs. Atwater, I need to see Frank immediately.”
At this moment, he almost hoped Elissa was in Frank’s hands.

“The new Cullinan he bought last month.”
The maid answered honestly. “The Maybach he usually drives was taken to the
shop by his driver this afternoon for maintenance.”
Which meant the people who took Elissa were very likely sent by Frank himself.
Hearing this, a knot of worry tightened in Old Mrs. Atwater’s chest. Taking in Rowan’s furious expression, she said with utter sincerity, “I can promise you, Els is definitely not here. Frank brough the antidote’ back alone.”
“You’ve known Frank for years. You know he’s not deceitful enough to pull something like this…”
She still couldn’t believe Frank would put on a flawless act of repentance while secretly having his men kidnap Elissa.
