Elissa was stunned.
Twenty years ago, Rowan was just a ten-year-old kid. He had no power or influence. How could he possibly owe two lives?
“There must be a misunderstanding. Rowan was barely ten back then…”
“Did I say he did it?”
Finn retorted before continuing nonchalantly. “A son paying his father’s debts- makes perfect sense, doesn’t it?”
Hearing this, Elissa finally grasped the true nature of the conflict.
It had nothing to do with Rowan.
But as for what the previous generation had done, and whether there was a misunderstanding, she had no way of knowing at the moment.
Before she could speak, Specs burst through the door, bowing respectfully. “Boss, they’ve found us.”
Elissa instantly knew ‘they’ meant Rowan.
“That fast?”
Sure enough, right after those words, Finn shot her a chilling smile. “I didn’t expect you to be this important to Rowan. It seems… I made the right move.”
He wasn’t panicked. In his eyes, there was even a faint glimmer of excitement.
The thrill of a long-awaited vengeance.
In that instant, whatever joy and relief Elissa felt about Rowan’s impending arrival vanished. Her heart leapt into her throat, and her voice trembled uncontrollably.
“What… what are you going to do to him?”
“Relax. As long as you cooperate, I have no interest in hurting a mother-to-be.”
Finn grabbed his phone from the coffee table, checked the time, and gave a slight flick of his left hand. Specs marched over, looking ready to get rough again, but caught Finn’s warning glare and opted instead to gesture toward the stairs.
“Dr. Drummond, be a little cooperative.”
Elissa clenched her fists, wanting to fight back. But meeting Finn’s sinister gaze, she forced herself to swallow her defiance and followed Specs toward the stairs.
She was vastly outnumbered. Fighting back would gain her nothing.
Just as she reached the bottom step, Finn called out coldly. “Keep a close eye on her. If anything goes wrong, my boys and I will just have to use you to block Rowan’s bullets.”
That wasn’t meant for Elissa.
Specs, who didn’t view a

his word. “Don’t worry, Boss won’t take my eyes off her.”
With that, he led Elissa upstairs.
Surprisingly, they weren’t going back to the basement.
Elissa glanced upward, halting her steps. “We’re going up?”
“I said go up, so go up. Why so many questions?”
Specs snapped impatiently, raising a hand to shove her.
Finn frowned. “She’s pregnant. Cut the damn violence.”
Elissa could tell he wasn’t completely evil.
At the very least, he had a shred of pity for a pregnant woman.
Seeing Specs quickly retract his hand, a plan began to form in her mind.
She docilely started climbing the

Reaching the third floor, Specs didn’t lock her in a room. Instead, he led her out to The Sky Terrace.
Twirling a short baton, he gestured with his chin toward a pre-arranged chair. “Sit.”
The chair was positioned right on the edge of the terrace.
Anyone with even a slight fear of heights would likely go weak at the knees.
But Elissa wasn’t afraid of heights.
Growing up, the only thing she had ever feared was Paige.
As she sat down, she glanced over the edge, estimating the drop.
From this angle, she had a completely unobstructed view of the courtyard and the
living room downstairs.
She thought she knew what Finn was planning.
The terrace was bare, lacking even a railing.
