“Don’t worry, I’m not going to kill her. I’m not that stupid,” Mara said calmly.
“Honey, don’t do anything rash. It’s not worth it,” Lacey added, worried.

Rachel was terrified. The only reasons she had endured the abuse were to keep her job to support her family and to look after Miss Mira.
But if she was dead, it would all be for nothing.
But Mara still grabbed Rachel’s arm with one hand.

With a piercing scream, Rachel’s arm was bent at a sickeningly unnatural angle p>
Even as Rachel was telling her the story, Mira was pulling up the surveillance footage on her phone.
She knew Rachel might be downplaying things to protect her.
Mara was a monster; she had always known that.

To associate with people like this, to hope they would ever come back to her side, was a complete delusion.
No wonder that in her past life, she had exhausted herself trying to win them back, only to fail in the end.
The next part of the video showed Mr. and Mrs. Mercer arranging for Rachel to be taken to the hospital.
It wasn’t out of a sudden pang of conscience, but because they didn’t want things to
get out of hand. They were cleaning up their daughter’s mess.

Mira didn’t answer. She walked straight up to Mara, and before anyone could react, she grabbed a fistful of her hair and dragged her toward the foyer.

“You’re going to get down there and beg Rachel for forgiveness p>
Then, she slammed the ornate foyer gate shut and threw the bolt.
“You won’t do it? Fine. Then I’ll just return the favor p>
Mira suddenly raised her hand and began slapping Mara across the face, left and right.

The family, finally reacting, rushed over, but the gate was locked. They could only watch in horror through the gaps in the decorative ironwork as Mara was beaten. “Help! Help p>
Despite her bloodcurdling screams, Mira didn’t stop.
After a few moments of hitting her face, she switched targets, her fists landing one after another on Mara’s body.
She had wanted to beat Mara for a long time—not just for what she did to Rachel, but for the accumulated resentment of two lifetimes.
