Mason was currently the head chef at one of their branch locations, pulling in tens of thousands a month between his salary and bonuses. From Rachel’s perspective, dating an entry-level waitress was a severe downgrade.

Jenna had been chasing Mason for months. Mira and Rachel had both met her— she had a stellar degree from a top-tier university and was brilliant at her job.

Mira said, offering a comforting smile.
“Fine, I’ll take your advice.
I already bought them a house anyway-dropped millions on it. But they can forget about getting another dime from me.
I have my own money. I don’t need to rely on him for my retirement.

Rachel was adamant about not imposing on Mira, and Mira didn’t push the issue.
When the time came, she would simply hire a team of world-class nurses to manage Rachel’s care. As long as she lived out her twilight years in absolute comfort, that was all that mattered.
