Chapter 395
The teacher and students in the van lost all color in their faces and screamed in terror.
Jax Weaver instantly threw his body over Mira, shielding her.
But in the fraction of a second before the freight truck made impact, Silas Vane, sitting in the passenger seat, reached over and violently yanked the steering wheel toward the shoulder.
The driver finally snapped out of his shock and slammed on the gas.
The commercial van launched over the curb like a rocket, plunging into the wooded area beside the road, narrowly dodging a catastrophic head-on collision with the truck.
But they weren’t out of the woods yet. The speeding van was hurtling straight toward a dense cluster of trees. If they hit them at this speed, there would still be casualties.
“Hit the brakes! Now!” Silas roared.
The driver slammed on the brakes.
Crash!
The van slammed into a large tree. The front end crumpled, the windshield
shattered into a spiderweb of glass, and blood began to seep from cuts on Silas and the driver’s faces and bodies.
Mira was the first to regain her bearings. With her martial arts training, her physical resilience was far beyond that of a normal person.
She checked her surroundings. The others were still unconscious. Only Jax was awake, already checking on Silas’s injuries.
Mira rolled her shoulders and flexed her arms, feeling no serious pain. She pulled out her phone and immediately dialed 911 for paramedics and police.
By then, Jax had already kicked the van door open.
Mira tested her legs, and finding them steady, she stepped out of the vehicle to check on Silas and the others. Fortunately, it seemed they had only suffered superficial cuts from the flying glass.
The freight truck had plowed into the shoulder, its massive momentum snapping several trees before it finally ground to a halt.
Seeing the truck’s cargo of heavy gravel spilled all over the road, a wave of delayed dread washed over Mira.
Thank God Silas had reacted so fast. Given the tonnage of that truck, if it had T- boned their van, everyone inside would have been crushed to death or permanently crippled.
The traffic police arrived quickly, followed shortly by ambulances and police cruisers.
Most of the passengers in the van had regained consciousness and were carefully loaded into the ambulances.
Jax shouted at the police officers, “I suspect that truck driver was paid off to commit murder! You need to investigate this thoroughly p>
The principal, still dazed and bleeding slightly, echoed the sentiment. “I think a rival school hired him to assassinate our top students p>
Mira rolled her eyes. That was a bit of a stretch.
Regardless of how she felt, Mira was packed into an ambulance and taken to the hospital for a full workup.
Because the van’s brakes had been
engaged right before impact, the collision force was significantly reduced Aside from some whiplash and bruising from the sudden deceleration, the passengers hadn’t suffered any severe trauma.
Though their bodies were fine, they were stillgust teenagers who hadz never experienced a near-death situation. The doctors prescribed some mild sedatives to help balms their nerves and prevent nightmares.
Silas had a few surface lacerations that were quickly bandaged, allowing him to be discharged immediately the driver was the only one who required hospitalization for more serious injuries.
After Mira and the principal ensured the driver was checked in, they prepared to leave.
As they walked past a VIP ward, they bumped straight into Adrian Mercer and Fiona Quinn, who were visiting Julian.

Wesley and Harvey offered polite, stiff greetings. The principal gave Adrian a curt nod.

Elara wanted to stay with Mira, but Harvey pulled her away by the arm. “Don’t get involved in other people’s family drama p>
“Why would I visit a member of your family?” Mira replied coolly, stepping past him.
Mira and her group had just survived an accident. Silas literally had fresh gauze taped to his forehead. And yet, Adrian didn’t ask what had happened. His first instinct was to scold her.
Of course, Mira hadn’t expected anything less.
