Just as Evelyn Crowe was about to lash out, Wesley stood up.
“Teacher, I don’t want to go on stage, and I don’t want to host any program. Also, I’m resigning as class president.
“It’s senior year. I just want to focus all my energy on my studies p>
He might be indecisive in matters of the heart, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t smart.
After the incident with Mara, it was best to keep a low profile for now.
“What do you all think you’re doing? Does my word as your homeroom teacher mean nothing anymore p>
Challenged by two students in a row, with another one quitting on her, Evelyn Crowe’s face burned with humiliation.
She had only been doing Mr. Mercer a favor, promoting Mara and replacing Mira with her (Mira and Wesley had been the hosts for major school events last semester). She never expected such a huge backlash.
Now, her reputation was in tatters. How was she supposed to command respect from her students in the future?
She recalled the teachers’ meeting earlier, when the vice-principal had said, “Your class is full of talent. Arrange for two hosts for the program, and make sure you have a performance scheduled as well p>
That was his way of endorsing her, a sign that she was valued by the principal. She had been overjoyed and had eagerly accepted.
But what was she going to do now?
Use Mira? They had already had a falling out. It would be too humiliating, and she really didn’t want to use her.
But besides the Mercer sisters, only Wesley had hosting experience. Who else was capable?

She slammed her folder onto the desk with a loud crack, then stormed out of the classroom in a huff.

When the bell rang for lunch, Liora and Celine asked Mira to eat with them. Mira grabbed her deskmate Elara to join them.

Mira and the others assumed she had something to do, so they left first.
The student cafeteria was especially lively at lunchtime. There weren’t enough tables so the three of them, had a system: one person would go save a table while the other two got food.
Otherwise, they might have had to eat standing up.
As Mira and Celine came over with their trays and sat down, they heard Mara’s

After the three finished eating and were about to leave the cafeteria, Mira looked up and saw Harvey.
