Both Mira and Rachel paused for a moment before understanding what he meant. They didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
“You’ve got it all wrong. This is the nanny from my house, the woman who raised me. And I didn’t cause her injuries. It was that recently returned Mara who did it p>

“Okay, let’s not talk about it now. Let’s just get in the car first,” Mira said, cutting the conversation short.
Once they were in the car, Mira told Kieran, “Kieran, I’ve severed ties with the Mercer family p>

After a moment of thought, however, he seemed to understand. Considering the recent online drama surrounding the Mercers, Kieran, a seasoned player in the business world, quickly put the pieces together.

Mira nodded and, while they were stopped at a red light, she showed him the severance agreement.
“Why so suddenly p>
Mira gave him a brief account of what had happened at the house that day.
“I knew your relationship with your family was strained, but I never imagined it had reached a breaking point p>
“Honestly, cutting ties with them was already part of my plan. What happened with Rachel today just became the catalyst p>
Rachel couldn’t help but ask, “But, child, you left them because of me. What will you do now p>
“School is about to start. Your tuition isn’t cheap, and you’ll need money for food and housing. How will you manage p>

Rachel looked at her child with a heavy heart. She had raised this girl since she was little, loving her like her own daughter. As a child, Mira had been more attached to her than to Lacey.
“But it might be for the best. That family has become unrecognizable since that Mara girl showed up. At least you won’t have to deal with their nonsense anymore. I still have some savings. The two of us can use that for now. Once my arm is healed, I’ll find another job. We’ll be able to get by p>

Kieran, now calm, added, “You should have left a long time ago. A family that biased will only ever hold you back p>
Kieran knew how capable Mira was. She was someone who could build
her own empire, not a damsel in distress who couldn’t survive without others. There was no need for her to endure that kind of
torment from her supposed family.
“I know, but they had to be the ones to initiate the disownment and kick me out. That
was the only way I could hold the moral high ground p>
“Of course. If you had been the one to propose it, public opinion would have painted you as an ungrateful daughter.” The public didn’t know the whole story they would just Stand on their moral high horse and condemn others.
The car soon arrived at the building where Mira’s apartment was. Kieran helped carry Rachel’s luggage upstairs, and the three of them entered the unit.
“Not bad. This complex has good security, plenty of green space, and a nice, quiet environment. It’s also close to your school, which will be convenient p>
“That’s exactly why I chose to rent here p>
Rachel, however, was in disbelief. Miss Mira was so thoughtful, she had even rented
an apartment in advance. Though curious, she maintained the discipline of a servant and didn’t ask about things that weren’t her business.
It was a two-bedroom apartment. Mira took the master bedroom and gave the second one to Rachel.
“Rachel, this will be your room from now on. You’re injured, so you should get some rest p>
