“Anyone who only cares about a guy’s money isn’t in it for real love,” Silas stated firmly. He had seriously pursued a woman a few years back, only for her to reject him because of his modest bank account.
Rachel shook her head. “How do you survive without money? Caring about financial stability isn’t a crime.” She paused, a sudden realization dawning on her face. “Mira, you don’t have a crush on someone, do you? Listen to me, you’re still young and incredibly busy. Please don’t rush into dating p>
“I was just asking hypothetically. Don’t blow it out of proportion. I’m not looking for a boyfriend,” Mira assured her. In her eyes, teenage romances were an unnecessary distraction that drained emotional energy and derailed academics. Besides, it was her senior year—a critical turning point for most students. She didn’t have time to let her heart wander.
Still, the conversation had clarified one absolute truth: in any relationship, betrayal was the ultimate dealbreaker. If Roxanne had a history of infidelity, there was no way Xavier would go through with the wedding.
Seeing Mira lost in thought, Rachel couldn’t help but fret. “As long as you’re not. But if you do find someone you like, you have to bring him home so I can vet him. I’ve been around the block, and I know exactly what kind of man is marriage material and who to avoid p>
“I will,” Mira promised. Then, a thought struck her. “Rachel, have you ever thought about getting married yourself p>
“What kind of nonsense is that? Look at my age. That ship has long sailed,” Rachel waved her off.
After dinner, Mira returned to her desk. She absentmindedly ate strawberries with a small fork while contemplating her next move. Finally, she picked up her phone and dialed again.

Jordan was in the middle of preparing herbal remedies when his phone rang. He knew it was his little nightmare calling, convinced he owed her a debt from a past life. But he certainly hadn’t expected that question.
“Get out of here, I’m busy!” he snapped, abruptly hanging up.
“Stubborn old man,” Mira scoffed lightly. “No wonder he’s single.” She had no idea if he had ever been married or had children; she only knew he was currently flying solo.
Putting the phone down, she dialed Owen next. “Do you know Roxanne Porter? Shane Porter’s daughter.” Since she and Owen were around the same age, he might have some insight.
“I’ve heard of her,” Owen replied.
“She’s about to marry Xavier Bennett, my classmate Liora’s brother He holds a significant position. If this goes through, it going to throw a wrench in my plans. Tell me what you know p>

Owen was generally aware of Mira’s situation. “She did her undergrad here, but went abroad for her master’s. She actually ended up the same university as a guy I went to high school with. They dated for a bit before breaking up, and he used to vent to me about her. By all accounts, she’s brilliant, incredibly capable and gorgeous. She’s always friendly and seems to get along with everyone, so her reputation is flawless. Naturally, she had a lot of guys chasing her p>

She kept somewhat under wraps back home but once. she went abroad, she was cycling through boyfriends every few days. She and Vivienne Voss are close friends, and they share a very similar lifestyle p>

“Could you hire a private investigator to dig up some evidence of Roxanne’s escapades abroad p>
“Master Ellis has a private investigator on speed dial,” Owen suggested. “Thanks, Owen p>
“The best way to thank me is to stop dragging me into your mess,” he replied dryly.
With her thoughts untangled, Mira reached out to Jordan to dispatch his contacts, hoping the results would come in fast.
