Mara gently patted Adrian’s back to soothe him. Her touch was the only thing that could soothe him; she was the only one in the house who truly cared.

Everyone at the table glared at her. Even Ethan, who always tried to keep the peace, looked at her with disappointment.
“Rachel wasn’t feeling well, so she went to rest,” Tessa, who was cleaning up in the kitchen, answered.
