Before she could finish, Mira cut her off.
“You keep your money. I’m very good at earning it. Don’t worry. Our lives will be much better now that we’re away from the Mercer family p>
After getting Rachel settled, Kieran prepared to leave.
“Sit down, Kieran. Have a cup of tea before you go p>
“You should hire a driver. Otherwise, you’re working too hard, and it’s not like we can’t afford one p>
As their business grew, Kieran would only get busier. If they had a driver, she wouldn’t have needed to bother him with today’s errand. Making a general manager run around like this was a waste of his talents.
“Alright,” he agreed without hesitation.
“Take this severance agreement with you. Tomorrow, have our lawyer check if it’s been officially filed online. If they haven’t filed it, we’ll do it ourselves p>
Kieran nodded. It felt as though he was dealing not with a high school girl, but with a seasoned veteran of the corporate world. Mira’s sharpness and shrewdness impressed even him, a man approaching forty.
Since the family ties were gone, it was best to make a clean break. With this young boss’s abilities, she would be much better off without that family.
“Also, it’s time to hire a vice president. And an assistant, a secretary, whatever you need. Hire who you need to, don’t overwork yourself p>
“Let’s take it one step at a time. We’ll hire as needed. There’s no reason to hire so many people at once; the overhead would be too high.” Starting a business was tough, and Kieran knew to save money wherever possible.
“I’ll leave it to your judgment, Kieran.” Mira trusted his character completely.
After Kieran left, Mira rested. Between her training, her vocal practice, and the fight with her family that evening, even someone made of steel would be exhausted p>
Elsewhere in the city, however, someone was far from peaceful.
In the chairman’s office at Porter Entertainment, Shane was discussing the launch of a new song with the general manager of his music label.
“Go and tell the music director to hurry it up. If he doesn’t, our top position in the entertainment industry is going to be snatched by another company p>
“Understood, Chairman p>
It was getting late, and Shane was about to head home when a bodyguard entered. “We have news from the other side p>
The other staff in the office quietly excused themselves.
The bodyguard leaned in and whispered a few words. Shane reflexively grabbed a glass from his desk and smashed it on the floor.
“Idiot! It’s bad enough that she’s
stupid, but she also has to act on her own. She can’t do the one important thing she’s supposed to, and instead gets caught up in petty nonsense, picking a fight with a servant. She’s useless for anything important p>
It was much easier to deal with Mira when she was right under their noses. Now, this fool had driven her away. She probably thought she’d accomplished something, but she’d actually just let a tiger back into the wild.
That Mira girl was clearly destined for bigger things, and this idiot had just let her go! Now, dealing with her would be much more difficult. She was completely out of his reach. This was just creating more problems for him.
After a moment of thought, Shane gave another order. “Tomorrow morning, have our lawyers check if their severance agreement has been filed. If it hasn’t, find a way to obstruct it p>
Shane had no intention of letting anyone from the Mercer family have a chance to recover.
“Also, tell that moron to strictly
follow my instructions. If she acts on her own again and messes up the plan, tell her it personally see to it that she’s finished. And pass a message to Norman, the Mercer family’s butler. Tell him to keep a closer eye on things and not let that country girl run wild again p>
Mira wanted to expedite the filing of the severance agreement, while Shane plotted
to stop it. In reality, however, the plans of these future adversaries were both completely unnecessary.
The next morning, Adrian took care of everything, both what they wanted to see and what they didn’t.
