“That was just the breaking point of all the resentment I had built up against them,” Mira explained. “It all exploded that day, a sudden shift from a quantitative change to a qualitative one. I cut ties cleanly. No lingering connections p>
The hostility had been festering since her past life.
“But you were wrong about one thing,” Mira added. “That day, I only severed the relationships. I didn’t actually deal with the people themselves. Next semester, on top of surviving the college entrance exams and running the company, I’m going to systematically eliminate everyone who needs to be eliminated p>
The mortal enemies from her past life and the stumbling blocks in her present- there was no way she was letting them live comfortably.
“Just be careful not to trap yourself in the process. Now that you’ve stationed me out here, if something goes wrong, I’m too far away to help you p>

Chatting effortlessly, they headed up to the second floor. The spacious bedrooms were decorated with unapologetic luxury. Plush king-sized beds, exquisite wall art, and high-end furniture all spoke to the sheer wealth of the owner. Standing on the balcony of the master suite, the sweeping view of the forested mountains was nothing short of spectacular.
“I have to say, this place is stunningly designed. Leaving it empty for two years is such a waste. Honestly, I bought over a hundred apartments in Melvion City last semester. I rented all of them out, and now I’m pulling in nearly a million dollars a month in rent p>
Combined with the lease income from the two Rivers Plaza office buildings, Mira was raking in nearly ten million dollars a month in rental revenue (even the space leased to her own company was calculated at market rate p>
“Rent it out? Are you joking? This is my personal home. How am I supposed to live here if I rent it out? I’m a neat freak, alright p>
Mira nodded in concession. “Fair point p>
“If you like it, you can stay here when you move to Aethelgard for university in the fall p>
Mira shook her head. “It’d be nice for a weekend getaway or a holiday, but
commuting from here every day is way too far. I’ll just buy a place near campus, like
I did in Melvion City. It’ll make getting to class a lot easier p>
When the time came, she would bring Rachel with her and transfer Mason to Aethelgard.
By the time they headed downstairs, the kitchen had prepared dinner. It wasn’t an overly extravagant feast but it was wholesome, satisfying and incredibly delicious. There was squab and yam soup, steamed sea bass, shiitake mushrooms with baby and zucchini st-fried with
bok choy and
wood ear mushrooms, all served alongside soft lotus leaf buns. Owen despised wasting food, and this was more than enough for the two of them.
The bodyguards ate at a separate table. In wealthy households, staff rarely dined with their employers,
unless they were traveling on dealing with unusual circumstances.
As they ate, the female housekeeper kept approaching as if she wanted to speak, only to hesitate and step back.
“Spit it out. What are you hiding?” Owen demanded. Seeing her glance nervously at Mira, he added, “She’s family. You don’t need to hold back p>
“Miss Voss came by a few days ago. She said… she said to let her know as soon as you returned p>
“Did you let her inside p>
Security wouldn’t allow non-residents through the community gates without the homeowner’s explicit permission.
“I… I thought you asked her to come p>
“From now on, no one is allowed inside without my direct approval. That includes Vivienne Voss p>
“Understood p>
After dinner, it was getting late, so they prepared to head back to the hotel Mira had an early departure the next morning and needed tő pack her bags.
Just then, the community security gate called, stating that a visitor had arrived and asking for clearance.
The housekeeper hurried to answer the phone. “Sir, it’s Miss Voss p>
Owen glared at the housekeeper. “How does she know I’m home?” “She… she might have just shown up unannounced p>
