As a seasoned corporate employee, he knew exactly how to play the game and read the room.
If an apology was needed, he would deliver one immediately. His paycheck depended entirely on Mira, which meant insulting her friends was a massive, unforgivable mistake.
Seeing the previously arrogant man suddenly groveling before him, Wyatt was momentarily stunned and didn’t quite know how to react.

As soon as the words left her mouth, Mira realized it wasn’t really a big deal. After all, there was a noticeable age gap between her and Owen, too.
But then again, her relationship with Owen was built on a deep, mutual understanding and shared history. It was entirely different from whatever superficial fling Xavier was running here.
Truthfully, Mira did remember Xavier. He was one of the very first engineers hired for her mobile operating system division, and she had personally reviewed the files of all the founding employees.
“A mutual friend introduced us,” Xavier said, rubbing the back of his neck with an incredibly awkward laugh.
A heavy, uncomfortable silence lingered as he tried to maintain his forced smile. “Whatever, you don’t need to explain yourself to me. Go back to your evening,” Mira said, waving a hand dismissively.
She genuinely had zero interest in hearing his excuses.
As long as his messy personal life didn’t bleed into his workplace performance, she couldn’t care less about who he dated.
“Have a good night, Boss,” Xavier said respectfully.
He shot a polite apolo nod to Wyatt, Harvey, and the rest of the table before briskly turning away.
“Babe, wait Piper called out, scrambling to follow him.
“Something came up, so I need to head out. You girls enjoy your dinner,” Xavier announced loudly to the adjacent table.
Ignoring Piper’s bewildered stare, Xavier marched straight out of the restaurant without even bothering to say a proper goodbye to Vanessa.
He left the girls sitting there in a dazed silence, completely unable to process the absolute disaster that had just unfolded.
It was a spectacular, humiliating disaster!
Piper had spent the entire evening desperately trying to flex her impressive new boyfriend, only for him to turn around and practically bow at Mira’s feet.
The two guys sitting at their table immediately sensed the toxic, deeply uncomfortable atmosphere and decided they wanted absolutely no part of it.
“Yeah, we’ve got some stuff to take care of too. See you,” one of them muttered.
The vibe at the table was completely dead, and neither of them had any appetite left for the drama.
Without another word, they grabbed their jackets and slipped out of the restaurant as fast as they could.
Watching the absolute implosion of the neighboring table, Wyatt and his friends felt an overwhelming rush of vindication.
“Man, I honestly thought we’d have to wait until we graduated and made our millions to finally wipe those smug looks off their faces. I never expected karma to hit that fast! That was hilarious,” Cedric said, cracking up.
He couldn’t stop chuckling at the sheer irony of it all.
“They really thought they were untouchable because of that guy, dragging Wyatt through the mud… only to find out he’s literally working for Mira! I bet their faces are absolutely burning right now p>
“Hey, why is everyone running away? I thought we were all having a nice dinner!” Zachary called out mockingly toward the shrinking table.
Zachary was in such a fantastic mood that he slammed down three shots of liquor in rapid succession, feeling entirely refreshed.
“Honestly, I wasn’t even trying to start a war with Piper. I legitimately stopped caring about her a long time ago,” Wyatt said.
“I just couldn’t believe she brought her new guy over specifically to shove him in my face. How pathetic is that p>
Wyatt shook his head in pure disbelief.
“Dating someone that toxic was the biggest mistake of my life. I must have had a curse put on me p>
Harvey shot Wyatt a highly skeptical
look. “We all warned you she was bad news from day one. You jusel,
refused to listen because she was pretty, and you kept throwing cash at her hoping it would work out p>
“Hey, it was my first real relationship! I was clueless,” Wyatt defended himself defensively.
“You’re too easily swayed by your emotions, man. Even in your next relationship, I bet you’ll make the exact same dumb mistakes,” Harvey countered.
“Oh, keep talking tough,” Wyatt fired back. “Just wait until you fall for someone. I guarantee you’ll be acting ten times crazier than I ever did p>
“Wait, do guys actually get completely derailed by love too?” Leah blurted out.
The sudden question caught the guys off guard.
