“He’s not. My son was just taken in two days ago. He was at most doing odd jobs,” the housekeeper quickly explained.
“Then he’ll be fine. Once things wrap up here, I’ll take you to find him p>
Mira then turned to the older woman. “Are there any explosives, bombs, or suspicious supplies hidden around here p>
The housekeeper thought for a moment. “Follow me p>
She led Mira and her team into the villa.
They were greeted by a massive living room featuring two extended leather sofas and a coffee table set with an exquisite tea service. Along one wall stretched an enormous decorative fish tank.
The ornaments displayed on the antique shelves were all limited-edition luxury items from around the world.
“Don’t tell me this sofa is made of human skin?” one of the soldiers asked.
Hank’s mouth twitched. “Doubtful. Don’t be fooled by all the horrific things they do; these people are extremely superstitious and still set up shrines and pray at home. Look over there p>
Everyone followed his gaze to a room where the plaque above the door displayed a religious motif.
“They actually have a shrine p>
Mira merely glanced around the room before following the housekeeper to locate the dangerous items. She also instructed the bomb disposal experts to sweep the entire house meticulously with their equipment.
All the valuables-gold bars, jade, antiques, and the contents of the safes-were gathered to be transported away later.
It would be a waste to leave such wealth behind; shipping it back home could help fund local development.
Just then, a call came in from the hospital team: everyone had been evacuated and placed under guard.
The emptied vehicles could now be used to transport the seized assets from the villa.
With their mission essentially complete, Dominic ordered them to return to the hotel to rest.
However, the battle between Mishka’s father and Hank’s contacts was still raging

Meanwhile, the sedatives Mira and
Master Ellis had brought were almost entirely.depleted They needed to restock immediately or they’d be at a severe disadvantage in any further combat.
“Let’s hold off for now. The men are exhausted. Let’s head back, get some food, and
get a solid half-day of rest before hitting it again tonight,” Owen said.
“As for the fighting over there, let Hank’s contacts rotate in and stall them for now. We’ll relieve them tonight p>
Hank’s contacts had substantial armed forces. If their only job was to stall, they were more than capable.
Given the current situation, this was their only viable option.
Last night, they had split their forces into three groups to attack different targets.
The soldiers with Mira were
relatively fine, at least there were no
fatalities, only a few injuries. The other two groups hadn’t been as lucky. There were numerous casualties needing treatment, and rumors of several deaths.
Everyone’s energy was utterly depleted. They desperately needed to recover.
Upon returning to the hotel, Mira
didn’t even bother eating. She and Master Ellis immediately set to work treating the wounded. Afterward she quickly drew up a list and handed it to the hotel owner asking him to purchase a batch of medicinal herbs.
She gave him extra cash as a runner’s fee, which he happily accepted.
The Tri-Border Badlands might be infamous for its illicit trades, but it was also a prime environment for many rare medicinal herbs, making the supplies easy to procure.
Moreover, since Mira’s team had rescued his son, the hotel owner was in high spirits and eager to serve his Mavarian guests.
Only after everything was handled did the trio finally sit down to eat. By this time, York and the others had long since finished their meals and gone to bed.
Harvey and his sister had also been helping care for the wounded since returning from the hospital, and they joined Mira’s group for the meal.
“Is there going to be more fighting tonight?” Harvey asked Mira between bites.
“The fighting is happening right now. Mishka’s father hasn’t been taken down yet; he’s currently in a standoff with Hank’s contacts.
