Mira asked.
“You look like capable people, so why not figure out a way to buy some poison tomorrow p>
“What do we need poison for p>
“To make poison capsules, of course. Hide them in your teeth.
If you get caught, bite down and end it p>
Mira fell silent.
The rest of the group exchanged speechless glances.
“What kind of garbage idea is that? Which eye of yours sees us marching to our deaths p>
Silas fumed, ready to punch the driver, but Mira stopped him. “Enough. He means well p>
“If you don’t kill yourselves, are you going to wait to be tortured to death?
I’m doing this for your own good. If they catch you, no one will come to save you p>
the driver muttered stubbornly.
“Alright, alright, we’ll keep that in mind,” Mira appeased him.
The driver finally quieted down. Honestly, the guy had a good heart.
The driver then parked in a hidden spot to wait while Mira and the other six silently approached the compound.
After walking about three hundred feet, Mira called a halt. “I sense danger. We shouldn’t go any further p>
Their current position was dangerously close to the firing range of the compound’s guard towers.
“They can’t possibly shoot this far, can they p>
Hank asked.
“They might have snipers. We need to be careful p>
Owen warned.
“But our intel showed no snipers p>
“There are some things they’ll keep hidden.
Let’s trust Mira’s instincts. Her radar for danger is sharper than anyone’s p>
Owen replied.
Following his lead, the group found a relatively concealed spot nearby to lie in wait and observe.
A towering guard post stood in the center of the compound. Whether it housed snipers remained unknown, but armed guards were definitely patrolling it.
Through binoculars, they spotted three men inside, each monitoring a different direction.
That alone made things incredibly tricky.
They hadn’t spotted any security cameras from their current vantage point, but getting closer would surely trigger alarms.
Still, zooming in revealed the telltale red dots of long-range infrared surveillance cameras mounted on the watchtower.
After watching for a while, the team returned to the car and circled around to observe from another angle, only to find the entrance heavily guarded.
There were three main gates, each equipped with mobile wire fencing that could slide shut at a moment’s notice.
That meant whenever the gates weren’t actively in use, all three layers of wire mesh remained closed and fully electrified.
“Their security is insanely tight! Is it to keep the captives from escaping, or to keep outsiders out p>
Hank asked.
“Probably both. This compound isn’t run by a single entity, and the competition between these factions is cutthroat p>
Owen answered.
“I just had an idea p>
Mira looked at the group. “Since a frontal assault is this difficult, why don’t we find a
way to break them from the inside p>
Hank frowned. “The inside? Everyone thinks of that.
To be honest, the last time I was here, I tried to dismantle them using that exact method. But once you understand how they operate you realize how impossible it is.
From the top down, every single phone is tapped.
And when I say everyone, I don’t just mean the lowest-level captives. I mean their
own subordinates too.
You might not know this, but the
level of control these bosses exert over their men is completely psychopathic Even the women they
sleep with are under constant surveillance.
So, trying to buy someone off from the inside is incredibly difficult. At the very least, I
