They secured the intruder without even triggering the motion-sensor lights in the stairwell.
In less than two minutes, the master and apprentice returned, hauling the unconscious man between them.
After locking the door, Mira immediately got to work on her laptop, using her hacking skills to scrub the hallway footage so the security room wouldn’t notice anything suspicious tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Owen was already patting the man down for electronic devices.
He shockingly found three: one in his pocket, one in his backpack, and another tucked away in his inner jacket pocket.
“Owen, check both of his ears p>
Mira communicated this entirely through sign language; if she spoke out loud, the man’s accomplices might hear her through a hidden mic.
Sure enough, two micro-sensors were discovered in the man’s ears! Owen carefully extracted them with tweezers and placed them into a soundproof box.
Mira recognized the sensors. Although tiny, they were highly advanced, featuring both digital and smart technology.
Seeing so many hidden devices made Master Ellis anxious.
“Just strip him naked. He couldn’t possibly have hidden one up his ass p>
Owen glanced at Mira, then helplessly waved off his mentor’s suggestion.
They were now absolutely certain the man had no more electronics on him.
“We really should buy an electronic scanner,” Mira said. “Searching like this takes way too long p>
“We’ll buy one. First thing tomorrow p>
Owen agreed.
“Why buy one? Mr. Lawson has them. I’ll call him right now and have him send one over p>
Mira had almost forgotten the nature of her master’s line of work.
“Then ask Mr. Lawson to send a couple extra. There are still several guys lurking around the community p>
Owen pointed out.
Master Ellis shot him a glare. “Do you think these things grow on trees? It took calling in favors, pulling strings, and a massive hassle just to import them from overseas p>
Master Ellis pondered for a second. “I’ll have them send three. We can each take one when we go abroad p>
“Won’t the police have them when we go overseas p>
Mira asked.
“The police will have them, but in limited supply. They won’t just hand them out to us, so it’s better to bring our own p>
After Master Ellis finished his call with Mr. Lawson, the group prepared to interrogate the captive.
Master Ellis pulled out a long needle, ready to jolt the man awake, but Mira stopped him.
“Wait, Master. Check his teeth for a poison capsule first p>
“How did I let that slip my mind in the heat of the moment p>
It wasn’t surprising; Master Ellis hadn’t gotten his hands dirty in a field op for years.
Sure enough, Mira’s suspicion was spot on.
“Be smart about this, and you’ll save yourself a lot of pain.
Tell us who sent you, how many of you there are, and what your objective is p>

The man clamped his jaw a few times before realizing the poison capsule in his mouth was already gone.

you of every electronic device you had on you.

Owen demanded.
“I’m not saying a damn word! Hahaha, bet you don’t have the guts to do anything to me anyway. Why don’t you go call the police I’ be more than happy to chill in a cell for a few days.
Hahaha, I’ve been way too exhausted lately anyway p>
