Helena was in disbelief.
She hadn’t even signed up this time.
From beside her, Dominick smiled with genuine pride. Given Helena’s talent and poise, she should have been anchoring the news long ago.
But without powerful connections or financial backing, she’d been stuck in the same spot for years.
“Maybe someone up top finally realized how hard you’ve been working. Keep pushing forward,” Dominick said with encouragement.
Eleanor scoffed, disbelief etched on her face. “There’s no way this is real. Helena, want to come with me and ask Mr. Palmer what’s really going on p>
Nearby, a few women joined in, causing trouble.
“She messed up during a live segment once. Who’s dumb enough to trust her with prime-time p>
“Weather reports are more her level—she should just stick with those forever p>
“What’s this all about?” Laurence had approached quietly, his brows drawing together as he surveyed the crowd around the notice board.

With a sharp look, Laurence turned to her. “Do you have a problem with the executive team’s decision p>
Refusing to drop it, Eleanor opened her mouth. “But p>
“This is only a spot in a competition. Her progress depends on skill, not favoritism.” Then, turning to Helena, his voice softened. “This is a chance for you to prove yourself. Don’t waste it. For tonight’s Nine O’clock News, you’ll join Eleanor for a live feature at the Wilson Group’s industrial park p>
To make sure she wasn’t dreaming, Helena pinched her thigh. The sting told her it was real. How was this even possible? Her father was now in a premium room, and she’d just landed a chance at the news anchor selection!

Eleanor was dumbfounded. “Dorian? Are you talking about that Dorian? From the Morrison family p>

Through the slightly open window, she caught the sound of Eleanor’s laughter.
Eleanor was on the phone with a man. “Rylan, are you really sending people to cause problems? That land belongs to your family p>
With a casual tone, the man replied, “It’s just a show, babe. Turn it into a media circus—say Alden’s demolition team is kicking out the seniors and children from there. That bastard Alden’s about to learn the hard way. No one touches what’s mine and gets away with it p>
