Helena endured a restless night, too consumed by worry to entertain thoughts of romance with Alden.
Alden considered reaching out, but the timing felt off. He retreated to his room, spending the night in solitude.
Uncertainty lingered, as Leonino, too, hadn’t responded to his messages, leaving him in the dark about Valeria’s situation at the Prescott family’s residence.
The following day at Nexus TV, Helena finally heard from Valeria. Valeria’s tone was evasive as she explained she had secured the side gig payment, though complications had arisen. She avoided explaining her sudden financial need.
Helena instantly connected Valeria’s monetary urgency to her family troubles.
“Can I do anything to assist?” Helena asked, her tone cautious.
Valeria dismissed the offer with a casual air. “No worries, I’ve got this. But I’m concerned about you. Leonino’s parents mentioned Emily’s return p>
Helena’s heart raced. Emily was back?
Valeria continued with a tone of resignation, “Expect trouble from the Simpson family again. If it becomes too much, let Alden handle them p>
Feeling deflated, Helena managed a wry smile. “You know, Alden was meant to marry Emily initially p>
Perhaps Alden was the one who most wanted everything to go back to how it should be.
“So what?” Valeria challenged. “Alden isn’t as helpless as you think. He doesn’t need your protection. Honestly, I’m more worried about you…” She paused, recalling the generous fee Alden had paid. It didn’t seem right to criticize someone who had been quite generous to both her and Helena.
Her voice softened. “If things escalate, lean on Alden. Don’t try to manage everything by yourself p>
Ending the call, Helena felt more anxious than before.
Since she severed ties with the Simpson family, they had made several attempts to contact her, but each time it was only to ask for her help in connecting with the Wilson family. Each time, Helena had ignored their attempts.

Betsey’s anger was palpable. “You must have influenced Alden somehow. That’s the only reason he would humiliate me that way p>
“Humiliate you?” Helena chuckled. “Betsey, Alden just didn’t let you into his car p>
If Betsey hadn’t been so public about securing the interview with Alden, her failure wouldn’t have attracted attention.
Betsey was left speechless by the calmness in Helena’s response.
Nearby, Dominick watched the exchange with amusement. “Betsey, you’re not going about this the right way. You came to Helena today hoping she would help you regain Alden’s favor for the interview, isn’t that so p>
Betsey pressed her lips together and scoffed. “I’m not pleading with her. I’m sure Helena isn’t the only one who can reach Alden p>

She understood Alden’s disposition well enough. If Betsey had offered a genuine apology and requested another chance, Alden would likely have agreed. But any attempt at manipulation would only lead to her embarrassment.
Helena then dismissed Betsey from her mind.
Returning to the studio for the first time since the scandal, she braced herself for the inevitable office whispers. Yet, post-broadcast, she was pleasantly surprised to find her colleagues exceptionally friendly.
